it is...but i fail to see how a team deserve to be promoted via the play offs at the expense of a team that may have amassed twenty points or more than them over the season as a whole

The good burghers of Aldershot have already allowed league football to slip through their fingers once before by tunring up in such pitifully small numbers that their club folded in 1992. So perhaps you should be concerned.

could you give me the gate averages for the season that the club folded? thought not.

for how many games?

they folded at the end of March, so about 3/4s of the season, so I'd guess about 18. Maybe you think they'd have averaged 3500 if they'd had those last 5 games.

Or maybe their crowds were exceptionally low because the team was so bad that year. So let's check the previous two year's average, which must have been much better, shall we?

You mean three clubs in League 2, which are all ex Conference teams as well.

Will it just proves that even those clubs promoted from the Conference struggle to attract bigger averages, so tend to struggle slightly. Either way, there is nothing to suggest that Aldershot's crowds would grow massively if they got into the football league.

fair play..it just seems that there is an obsession with gate as if it somehow equates to worth. of course the crowds will rise if aldershot ever gain league status:not by much for sure with regard to core support,but the curious and away support will help the coffers to a degree.

But it won't be changed soon. The extra promotion place was only added after the conference agreed to pay Tier 4 club a "bribe" over a 3 year period to compensate them.

That deal has now run out, but the BSP (as it is now) doesn't have the money to do that again, and there's absolutely no way that the FL clubs will allow another relegation place to be created without and form of compensation.
