The four ex players received a phone call that morning to say it had been cancelled on health and safety grounds as they were concerned at the number of people who might be in the Megastore.

Which presumably is why they have people on the door limiting access at busy times!!

Although people waiting around to have their £10 Star book signed by former players aren't busy buying other merchandise.

It seems to me that now that people have worked out that computer error actually means human error, health & safety appears to be taking over as the most trotted out excuse!

You'd have thought the logistics of this situation would have been sorted long before Saturday morning though.

It's clear that there's been something of a cock-up on the communications front.

Something has gone wrong quite badly and I'm personally embarrassed that people have been inconvenienced by this - anything that makes STAR look amateur (although we are staffed solely by volunteers) and which causes inconvenience is clearly unacceptable - my vision for STAR is that every interaction with our members, non-member, the club and everyone else should always be as professional as possible.

Although I wasn't directly involved in this project, under the principle of collective responsibility I do share the responsibility and I'm very sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Whilst I agree that this apology is in order I also hope that you'll agree that just as important is us making sure that we get things right next time, which is what we'll be trying our utmost to do - with the benefit of this experience.

A blanket apology to all contributors by e-mail wouldn't go amiss.

This would be a good place to start because not all contributors use Hobnob so will not see your apology.

Gordons Cumming The book is launched at the Madejski Stadium on December 1st in the Megastore.
With signings by various ex-players, including my friend.

Would that be a senior ex-pro, perchance?

Agreed but it needs to be done PDQ, otherwise it will appear very much after the event and pretty meaningless.

A brief explanation of why it all went pear-shaped, an apology and an indication of lessons learned for the future should help restore goodwill.

An apology for the "pig's ear that took place last Saturday (1st Dec)" has now been emailed to those affected.

Still not quite sure what was intended and why it all went so horribly wrong but at least there has been an apology issued.

I'm giving it a miss as it's too much of a health and safety risk!

Filthy display cabinets and shelves in the Megastore btw!

As long as STAR don't try to muscle in, it should be fine.

Does anyone now if this is completly sold out for now?

Was hoping to get it for a xmas pressie but megastore website say sold out and tried calling them three times today and either engaged or it just rang and rang and rang.

Is it available from Reading town centre anywhere?

I live in Nott'm so was hoping to get my sis to get it for me, but dont want to ask her to go out of her way (no car) to the Mad Stad for it.

cheers

No it is not sold out, I'm not that involved but it seems we need to get more supplies to the Megastore! There have been suggestions of places in the town centre but I am not sure which if any are willing to co-operate.

In the meantime it is available at the STAR Base so before or after a game or on a Tuesday evening between 7.30 and 9 pm.

I think the book is a really great read.

Now I do believe there is a big market for sales out there.
18,000 season ticket holders no less.

I think the marketing of this book could be greatly improved.
Whoever is involved in the production of this book should make a bit more effort and I'm sure STAR could make a lot more money.

Ok thanks, I'll do this via paypal, unless a STAR member could be a star  and bring a copy along on saturday to the Birmingham game and I'll pay them then. Wouldnt be cheeky and ask this normally but what with xmas post and everything I was hoping to not rely on Royal Mail this time of year.

If so I'll provide my Mob number by PM to arrange a meet before hand or at our seat numbers inside ground.

Cheers,

Tom.
