Why?

Irish connection with Roy Keane.

Will up his wages by a fair whack.

Not totally unthinkable

Reading may sign me as a star striker. It's still not going to happen though.

Comment by Keane:

“With the predicament we’re in, we can’t afford to bring in players from abroad and hope they pick up the Premiership straight away,â€

How much would Hunt cost? Must be at least £5 million or so ... as he's got several years left on his contract.

500k would be a good bit of business given the fact that we got him from Brentford, and he has worked wonders for us at times since then...he owes us nothing...

.......but he isn't going anywhere just yet

£3m in the DaiLOLy MaiLOL (being read by the people in front of us on the coach).

If Sunderland offer that and Hunt wants to go then take the money and run. I know a player is only worth as much as people will pay for him, but any upwards of £1m would be making Hunt more than he's worth.

Can you image Hunty playing having been motivated by Roy Keane? It'd be one red card after another......

I had high hopes that your opinions were not entirely influenced by the gutter press and less savoury members of the HNA? unintelligensia. Shame on you Dirk.

No gutter press or stereotypes involved - all my own work! Watching Hunty he always strikes me as being on a knife-edge, and that's under Steve Coppell who can only be a calming influence. Now take away SC and replace him with someone who has the opposite temperament to SC......

Coppell on Hunt:

"He's invaluable. He's the spirit of the team in many ways. A very important factor in everything else we do."

Stephen Hunt is our Premiership Andy Hughes or our version of Ray Parlour.

If a club wants to part with an obscene amount of money for his services then bring it on. However, I take your point about selling to a relegation rival.

It has to depend on who we have lined up, folk here are calling out for cover on the right, but that leaves Convey, who is naturally left sided out of the team, just as he is returning to form, or does that leave Hunt out of the team??

With the Ray Palour quote do you mean the gypo's haircut or his work rate?

it's the usual "destabilize the opposition" trick. Who are we playing next week ? ....

Agreed, but it'd take a big fee to get him. He's been the biggest surprise for me since we've been in the Premiership.

Yeah goodness knows what he'd be like if he had to work with someone like Wally Downes week in week out.

Oh hang on a minute...
