Victor Meldrew I love this topic because it gives people the chance to over-rate and under-rate in line with their favourites.
I think our front two deserve at least 8 every week-their commitment is faultless and in Kitson we have our one top class player.
How Hunt can get 9 and Doyle 5 from one poster I find incredible-Doyle works just as hard if not harder than Hunt and as one earlier poster said,Hunt's crossing was abysmal.
Also Convey getting an 8 from somebody-were you there?

IMHO Marcus deserves at least an 8 and Sonko about a 4-he looked weak taking on a physical player like Jones and yet another reckless challenge in the box that almost cost us the game.
In my mind he has not been the player that he was but hopefully a spell away in Africa will help get him back to speed.

As for selection,Coppell really cannot have any faith in Cisse or Fae to play Gunnar with an 8" inch gash in his leg which surely cannot have healed properly within the space of 7 days and the poor devil had to play the full 90 minutes.

you sir, are an idiot.....hunts crossing was superb yesterday, doyle may work hard but there is no end product atm

BBC gave Doyle man of the match.

Watching it on the tele in Sydney i can't really argue, the lad gave heart and soul into his performance today. I find it madness people are giving him a 5!

He won literally everything today.

Special praise for Hunt and Hahnemann who were fantastic today, especially Hahnemanns saves from Cole and Jones

I am a Doyle fan too so am a bit biased. He always gives 100% and is in my view a class act alongside Kitson and a better all round player than Long. As someone else has said bring Long on in the second half to run the pants off a tiring defence(in place of Convey as his stamina may not be as strong as others) but keep Doyle on the pitch.

Chaney how you can give 8 to Convey is beyond me...I see Royalee was at a completely different game as usual

Far from it, for once he was at the same game as me! I wouldn't have criticised him for lacking class though.

Showed some great touches and a terrific workrate. Got caught dwelling on the ball after we scored our first goal but immediately raced back to get a challenge in to regain possession for us and moments later raced thirty yards to chase the ball down again when one of his team mates gave it away. Linked up well with Shorey and is now starting to look far more like his good old self.

Aren't you the bloke who keeps banging on about Henry being in the side?
Say no more.

actually i bang on about henry being given a go on the bench, given that he is an exciting home-grown winger, you are saying that hunts crossing was abysmal...even though he was superb......say no more

My ratings (hopefully favouritism-free):-

USA - 8 (two important saves, generally in charge of his area)
Murts - 7 (the usual footballing dictionary definition of solid and dependable)
Shorey - 7 (also solid, dead ball delivery an improvement on the Brum match)
Sonks - 6 (improvement all-round, but still off the pace, hence foul for pen)
Ivar - 8 (solid, and sharper than the strikers for the goal - good work, sir!)
Hunt - 8 (relentlessly busy, a constant thorn in Sunderland's side, deserved his goal)
Harper - 7 (cool, understatedly hard-working performance)
Gunnar - 6 (much more solid than usual - we need more from him going forward, though)
Convey - 6 (worked hard defensively, but slightly off the pace going forward)
Doyle - 6 (a hard working, skilful trouble-maker, pity about the finishing)
Kits - 7 (the expected classy link play, just lacking that ability to get into threatening positions at the moment)

Long - 7 (great work for the goal, so deserves a mention)

Number 13 - 7 (gave the noisy Sunderland away end a run for its money)

Coppell - 8 (You've got to judge by results, and therefore the decision to risk Gunnar and bring Long on paid off. Loses a mark for indecision over the timing of the latter.)

Superb eh? Superlatives seem so cheap nowadays.
I don't remember him giving a decent cross (let alone a "superb" one) but I do remember Kitson crossing three times to him and wishing it had been the other way round.
BTW you might be interested to know that Henry got a rating of 4 for last night's performance away at mighty Northampton Town.
For a player supposedly (in your mind but probably not Coppell's)knocking on the door for a Premiership place I would expect a bit better.

wheres this rating of 4 come from?

BTW you might be interested to know that i work with a bournemouth fan who has a season ticket there and he says that henry has consistently been one of their best players, and to quote 'has a huge future'..........one bad game does not make him a bad player

Didn't see the game, hoping to catch it on the dish later this evening.
My only comments would be about Convey, don't forget he is coming back off a major injury and will be a bit out of "game shape". The game against Liverpool he was vital in our success, the touch to send Harper free was brilliant.
Convey has been improving each game, and yes his pace is slower than before but I'm sure he will gain some of that speed back and he will make up for the loss with his skill.
His best this year is yet to come!!

The rating came from tonight's Evening Echo.
Henry has done quite well in this loan spell but if Coppell doesn't give Fae or Cisse a game when Bryn is hardly fit can you see him playing Henry this season when he openly admits to be desperately trying to sign a right-winger?
