Well Done Today

by jimmyboy (whufc) » 26 Dec 2007 18:29

You were worthy of a point and I was particularly impressed with Kitson who had an excellent game.

The sending off was the right decision though, you can't go in two footed with studs showing and expect to stay on the pitch so the ref got that one right.

All the best for the rest of the season.

Cheers, can't argue with either of those points.

I wasn't at the game but from watching on TV yes it was very quiet. To be fair though, the team hasn't given the fans much to cheer about at home this season. Away from home we are excellent but at home we look nervous and lack any creativity. You took full advantage of that today.

I think we had the benefit of your main key players out too. Etherington and Bellamy killed us at the Madejski this season, and you also have Dyer out. But at the end of the day, its Curb's responsibility to bring in the players just like it is Coppell and we did everything that was needed to get the draw and another vital away point. 4 points from 2 games at Christmas - very happy indeed! :D

One question about the sending off....if that had been a home player do you think he would have been sent off?

No, I don't think so either

Rotherwick, watch it in slow motion again without your blue and white specs on and then come back and tell me it wasn't a sending off !!

I certainly wouldn't be trying to defend a West Ham player if he had made that type of tackle.

Anyway, I'm not here to cause grief, I just wanted to compliment you on a well deserved point.

The Boleyn had the feel of a small ground today. St Andrews felt small but at least there were pockets of noise, rather than the pre-pubescent whining coming from the Upton Park East Stand today.

Any 2 footed jump near a player is instant dismissal no matter how well executed.

Gunnarsson got the ball, came nowhere near getting the player but you just can't risk that sort of challenge and therefore was rightly red carded

I agree, but the daft thing is that he'll get a 3 match ban. There's no way you can say a clean but risky tackle is as serious as a deliberate bad foul or punch.

And thats a shame really, they should be clamping down on the bad tackles with intent or those that are poorly timed. Gunnarssons tackle would've been dangerous if he hadn't exectued so well.

I thought we played some excellent football in the opening half an hour and Doyle, and especially Kitson were outstanding as we tore them apart. Worryingly though, like the first half against Sunderland we didn't make the most of our time on top.

Yes. I'm not sure about that.

I try so hard to find something to like about west ham and their fans, but I find it impossible. Just reading through their forums they are the most deluded bunch of bitter fans in the world. The amount of sour grapes calling us " crap" and " only here for a point" is astonishing. On top of that the moaning which takes place on kumb would have you think they are in derby's position.
We were dominating until we had a man sent off, even after they they took an undeserved lead we rightly pegged them back. The last 10 mins they put the pressure on and created chances, but thats expected when you have to play most of the game with 10 men.
Upton Park as been a morgue this season..admitted by most of their forum, so surely they can't believe they are well supported anymore and use that as a childish weapon against everyone they play?

Respect to jimmy who made a fair post and sounds a decent hammer, but watching the game from aus last night with some other hammers I wonder how many of them actually follow football without their blinkers on?
One of them announced that mccartney was far better than shorey, and kitson is second rate and would be laughable in the england squad. It was quite fitting that hunt skinned McCartney more than once, shorey then played a delightful through-ball in which kitson, as usual...finished it. Couldn't of wiped the smirk off my face when that went in.

Also, solano is apparently the " most technical player west ham have had in their history", thats quite a praise.

Can't argue with the sending off, stupid tackle and had to go. If we would of had eleven men for that game, we'd of come home with 3 points.
