Away Record

by Barry the bird boggler » 30 Dec 2007 07:41

Just for the record; our worst season on the road was 1930/31 when we averaged (applying 3 points for a win) 0.3333333333 points a game.

Of the 21 games played that season we managed 1 win, which arrived on our 15th attempt (3-1 v Bradford Park Avenue) on 18th Feb 1931.

Since 1920, we have never gone through a season without winning at least once on our league travels.

Unsurprisingly - given results such as 1-7 at Spurs, 1-8 at Burnley, 0-6 at Bradford City, 0-5 at Cardiff - our goal difference away from home was minus 38.

Currently, from our 10 trips, we are averaging 0.3 which, if maintained, would give us another whopping 2 complete points to look forward to.

In 1928-29 our AGD was -41, althought we did win 3 away that season!

I would settle for a -41 GD this season if we managed three away wins into the bargain..

Derby, last game of the season.

I think that might be it.

I think that this season represents our best chance yet to achieve that.

we need to start winning some away games otherwise we could run out of points if we rely on just our home form, then if we slip up at home then we have to improve on our travles.
