Tinrib For me Kitson can say what he likes when he likes. He's doing the business on the pitch and that's where it counts for me.

And comparing his comment to Hoddles & the mad man that is David Ike is farcical.

For the record I couldn't give two shits about the FA Cup either.

And sections of the media are starting to come out in support of the realism behind Kitson's and SC's statements.

Paul Hayward in The Mail today has a section headed 'Reading the right act' - Steve Coppell is right about the FA Cup. The facts support the Reading manager's assertion that the Big Four have run off with the pot.........'

He then expresses the hope that progress made by Manchester City, Aston Villa and Everton is carried into the FA Cup 'otherwise the early rounds will go on being a game of pretend, as in 'let's pretend we can go all the way, then settle back to watch Manchester Utd play Chelsea in the final. Again'.'

Elsewhere the SportsMail ask 'So, can anyone break the monopoly of the Big Four?'before repeating the stats about the last time anyone from outside the big four lifted the cup was 13 years ago and pointing to the mismatches since, when smaller clubs had made it to the final.

Finally a premiership footballer has come and has spoken what he's thinking instead of the old cliched rubbish that most proffesional footballers come out with. It's refreshing that a player can relate to us on a similar level

Kitson got my support for life when he told me of the imaginative methods of pain he would inflict on Adolf Hinton for his ridiculous ginger theme day.

Copied and pasted from KUMB

I am very very good friends with Dave. He's currently on holiday with his pregnant fiancee and Ivar Ingarmarsson and his family. He text me earlier having a chat and said he's just reading the bol*ocks the papers have written about him.
Yes he's happy to admit that he said he doesn't care about the FA Cup, THIS SEASON, because he feels the important thing for the club he plays for is to ensure they manage survival in the top flight. If someone would of asked us last season a run to the 1/4 finals of the fa cup or survival what would we of taken?
His words to me this morning were all newspaper journalists are lazy bast*rds, why write up a full story that won't get a lot of media attention when they can mis-quote comments and make it seem like they have a proper wan*ker story to write about.
Dave is the most genuine person, not only footballer, i know. If he thinks your wrong he'll tell you. If he agrees, he'll tell you.
Remember him making the headlines after the world cup, an un-heard of player telling Terry, Gerrard, Rooney Lumpard etc they should be ashamed of their performance in the world cup etc etc.
Kit's will tell you how it is and how he feels. To say he's been mis-quoted is an understatement, for a player that played non-league and in the 1st perlimary round of the FA Cup believe me he cares about every single game he plays, whether it use to be for the Arena Taverna in Letchworth on a Sunday, Arlesey Town in the ryman league on a saturday or when he moved to Cambridge and onto Reading.
As for some of the comments about him, i'd like to be standing alongside Dave and see some of you call him it to his face.
And for the positive comments, he'd shake your hand and more than likely offer you a beer and sit entirely interested and have a football chat.
After the WH v Reading we had a chat and he said he did an interview that turned a few noses. The point of his interview was how football has always been for real fans and not money men but thats changing and eventually money will force the working class man out of the stadiums and it'll be a black day for football.
For fu*ks sake he's about the only honest speaking top flight football player there is. If only some of you mugs had the luck to meet and know him.
And remember don't believe everything thats 'quoted' from players unless you hear a full un-edited interview with them.

I don't think Coppell is too happy with him, however, he makes a thinly veiled comment on the OS about how well the team did yesterday and that they showed their worth on the pitch "not by newspaper articles".....

I don't think Coppell knew Kitson was giving the article. I also think he is disappointed by the wording of Kitsons talk, not the fact what he said. If Kitson had said the league was his priority then this would have blown over

Anyway i don't give two sh*ts about what anyone else thinks about Dave Kitson. KITSON FOR ENGLAND

shadesrwrf I've got a strange feeling of deja vu.

Really not sure what the problem is here. Keep it up Dave, on and off the pitch.

I'm sure his girlfriend will agree!

Pockets - an interesting take perhaps - but I don't think it's good enough these days for players to do say "I was misquoted"

They all know what the press are like - so there's certain things you don't say and subjects you don't talk about otherwise you will find yourself blasted all over the back pages - misquoted or not.

Dave Kitson the educated didn't say this. I think he's been misquoted. Of or have? that is the question.

Yesterday on BBC Garth Crooks was effectively backing Kits comments stating that premiership survival is a massively higher priority over a good cup run and that Kits comments simply reflect that reality.

Colin said the same thing and admitted that he did the same in the Prem last season. It's just common sense, and so far only TalkShite that are condeming it. I agree, the use of language was a mistake.

Indeed. It's one thing to say that the prem is a priority, but it's quite another to say you don't give a flying one about the FA Cup.

I think Coppell wasn't too impressed either - his post match comments were clearly referring to Kitson.
