Reading director of football Nicky Hammond claims the club are in talks with two Premier League sides with a view to strengthening their squad in January.

The Royals hope the unnamed targets will join new recruit Marek Matejovsky at The Madejski Stadium following his Â£1 million move from Mlada Boleslav on Monday.

The Berkshire side have been linked with Bolton forward Stelios Giannakopoulos and Tottenham defender Anthony Gardner, and Hammond admits that Steve Coppellâ€™s backline is an area of concern at the moment.

"We're endeavouring to bring more players in and we're in conversations with a couple of Premiership clubs,â€

That's almost a joke if anything 'a couple of Premiership clubs' translated as 'two Premiership clubs'. Should be easy to find out why they are. Just look up two Premiership clubs that are either married or co-habiting!
