It's only the utter shiteness of Fulham, Derby and Sunderland that keeps me sleeping at night.

Reasons to be cheerful:

We may be shit right now but we've been equally as shit earlier in the season and picked up points.

The teams above us are not pulling away.

The relegated teams arn't getting closer yet.

All thats happening is that everyone from 11th down to 17th are bunching. We're in a real sticky patch right now. But there were people saying earlier in the season we were worse than Derby and were guaranteed relegation fodder.

Well we picked up about another 8 points after that. We've still got plenty of time. Wigan, Bolton and Boro have all improved. But Newcastle are nose diving and those three arn't above us yet.

We may well drop several more places, but we'll get a run of slightly easier games soon when we can start picking up points too.

Remember we have form for picking up draws against United. We've managed 3 out of 5 so far and none of the times we've played them they've slaughtered us. Chelsea is 1 from 3 but again they're yet to take us to pieces. These are both the sort of games where we can play well above our selves and really get up for it.

You may as well stay positive, you can't effect anything by being negative, you may just have a small effect with positivity. Enjoy the prem while it's here, we may get relegated and never see it again.

The real reason to be cheerful is that Little Reading, a team that spent the first 135 years of its existence bumbling around the Southern League or the lower leagues - a team whose highlight was winning a cup that no-one else has ever heard of - is currently sitting 13th in the English premier League, 57% of the way through their second season in that league. We have also achieved this whilst also being the most financially secure club of the whole 92.

A few years ago that was beyond the bounds of our wildest imagination, so let's have a reality check on where we really are.

Listen to me - we will not go down this season. I am absolutely, utterly, sure of it. Out of the next 16 matches we will get the 4 wins that will keep us up.

Wigan , Bolton , Boro , and Birmingham are all improving , and 36 points will not keep us up , unless the defence is sorted out quickly we could and will will be dragged down onto the sewers of the relegations death zone

Well enjoy it whilst it lasts because if we do go down (worryingly to realists looking increasingly likely) we will lose our manager and all of our best players (the young quality you refer to) and it will be an awful long climb back up to the top again.

You forgot to mention a great academy set up with at least some of its brightest stars considering asking for a move elsewhere because they are not getting a chance to make it into the first team.

Well that lasted a long time didn't it!!

Now just two points away from the bottom three!

'Enjoy the Premiership whilst it lasts' well unless everyone at the club from Mr Mad downwards pull out their fingers and start performing better PDQ it there's not much longer to enjoy. What's more it's unlikely to be an enjoyable experience.

Nice to know that all that money they charged us over the past two seasons really has 'helped the club compete effectively at this level'!
