kevan If the czech bloke is good as offensive midfileder, will Harper stay or be replaced in 1st team by Cisse - did a great job in defense this week, could be an excellent defensive midfielder?

Cisse's passing is poor at best at the moment.

Harper and Marek will be the midfield two for now.

That's persuming Marek actually plays ever!!

Could be...but unfortunately hasn't in the games he's played so far.

The problem is that with the Czech break he's not played for weeks. Would possibly have featured next week after a reserve outing but the Fulham reserves game has been called off. Suspect the club will be looking to fix up behind closed doors type game maybe. Either that or we tell him to have a good shave and see if he can get away with turning out for the Youth team.

I thought I read on that OS the other day that Coppell hopes to get Matejovsky playing by the end of the month...

Anyhoo, experience is what we need at the back. Someone who isn't going to get flustered by mistakes around him, someone who's solid without flair - ie, let's not bring Phillipe Albert out of retirement.

Nah, he's joining the Keegan revolution at Newcastle.

I would take that in a flash.

Also, Villa looking to get a right back, Mellberg is in the last months of his contract.

Oh likewise, but if Bolton are after him we've got no chance.

I know. I would grow a Mellberg style beard if we signed him.

You're joking, how he's getting on there? Has he got his players jumping the penalty takers after they've missed?

No, I'm not. He lives locally and they approached him in the summer as he has to do a season training a side of a suitable standard as part of his management/coaching licenses.

Apparently he's pretty committed and not actually that good a footballer. Still faster than most of the squad though.

The previous season, they had a someone from the Stoke side of 1984/85. Look it up.

Is that similar to what Chris Casper was doing at Team Bath?

Sounds like a good plan, hope Keown can become another decent English manager.....

According the OS (http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/NewsDet ... 45,00.html) It is just a defender at an english club - no mention of prem experience

Maybe. But these are genuinely students first and footballers second.
