SPECULATION - Theo Walcott

by Royal Rother » 23 Jan 2008 18:09

He needs to go on loan somewhere to get some games and confidence under his belt - with the way things are going he isn't going to get regular opportunities at Arsenal so I suspect they would be happy to send him somewhere for the rest of the season, with a call-back clause should injuries necessitate a return.

I doubt he would go to a Championship club as that would be a bit humiliating for him so is there a club in the PL in need of a right winger? (I appreciate the fact that he probably won't end up as a winger but I'll let that one go for the moment....)

Probably a bit far-fetched but I've seen a damned sight worse speculation on here! What do you think?

I cant see that he would be out of our wage budget, so why not??? Sell Hunt to Sunderland for £6m and stick bobby on the left, result all around.

After Sir Steve criticised the loan system (Ben Foster last season) i can't see this happening.

I cant see it happening either...as good as Theo maybe, a striker with a little more confidence/experience is what we require, if its that particular thing we need.

No Thanks, After going to the Spurs game last night and seeing him play, no movement, no creativness, kept falling over his own feet, TOTALLY over rated, Arsenal will be getting shot of him come the end of the season.

He has shown that he is a very good player; now lacking confidence, he probably needs a change of scenery for a while and a run of games. I doubt Wenger has given up on him but will recognise that he needs the above.

Can't see this one coming together. THough is a good player, he wouldn't want to come here. We're heading for 'relOLegatiLoLn' remember.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is considering sending Theo Walcott, who cost the club £12m as a 16-year-old, out on loan as the forward's struggles at the Emirates continue. (The Sun, Daily Mail)

seems to back your going out on loan theory!

I think he could do a job on the right wing for us but according to reports Wenger wants a guarentee that he plays in the first team and in a central striking posistion which if true would mean he would not join us as i dont think sir steve would let anybody else pick his team for him.

also reported in the Daily Mail today that a premier league club had enquired about him playing as a right winger, but Wenger wants him to play up front.

Could that enquiry possibly have been us.

Oster is back from injury and Glenn Little can now walk without the aid of a stick. :D

We don't need a right winger

If we could play him where we want then, I'd say great - lets get him in as a right wing option.

If though Arsenal want him to play in a striking role then no thanks.

I'm sure I read or heard comments from Wenger saying he'd had a lot of interest from Prem clubs trying to get Theo on loan but he wanted him to develope at Arsenal not elsewhere.

Not sure the right wing bit stands up too well seeing as Wenger has played him there as often as he's played upfront.

Would be a fantastic loan signing, I don't think we could play him up front if Wenger insisted on that but if we get the call then wide right would work well. The guy has a tremendous amount of talent and it could be an opportunity to fix an area we've struggle with all season. Personally I think Hunt is better on the left and I don't think Convey is playing that well. I suspect though he is more likely to go to somewhere like Fulham, they would agree to any demands Wenger placed and its still local for Walcot rather than it being Sunderland. This could the one loan signing that really works for the club, I think Coppell should go for it and get the lad here.

I don't like the idea of helping Arsenal players to become better players. We should be concentrating on our own.

I would be more than happy to see Walcott come on loan to us. It would suit all parties. He's a local lad, gets to play regularly and improves our first team.

If it was on the condition that he played up front, well if we have no other likely irons in the fire, given Doyle's poor scoring form right now, I'd ask him if he was willing to take the right wing birth 'til the end of the season until we can rebuild properly and take Walcott if he says yes.

Would be a great loan for us, but only on the wing. That's where we need somebody and that's his best position.

Also, isn't he a local lad?
