Armadillo Roadkill Reading FC - where the fans are shouting "you don't know what you're doing" at a linesman who made a quite brilliant decsion to let Bolton's second goal stand. Because it was nowhere near offside. What an embarassingly unknowledgable crowd. I heard the poor bloke called a kunt all afternoon by myopic little pr1cks with no idea about the game.

Beelzebub Right now the team are struggling, struggling against the finest players on the planet. What they need now is our support.

Ideal JM says the stadium expansion will go ahead regardless of what division we are in.

shadesrwrf Do you know what? I'm glad none of the doom-mongers round here are in charge of the club. It would have folded long ago. A few bad results and you're losing all sense of perspective.
How many people honestly expected us to stay up last season? We've managed two seasons, and we're not down yet. If we do go down I have every confidence we'll be back before long. Supporting Reading Football Club is a long-term investment. Enjoy the ride.

Thankyou shades. Thats the best most informed and level headed post I have seen for a long time.

namroyal The problem is that we've got good players that aren't oxf*rd playing decent oxf*rd football. I don't oxf*rd understand why when they cross that line they can't perform with a bit of passion and enthusiasm. Watching my oxf*rd sunday league team is currently more oxf*rd enjoyable than watching the BLARMY oxf*rd around and not attempt a single oxf*rd shot on oxf*rd goal. Watching Sunday League football is free. oxf*rd hell.....

Informed? - I'm no more informed than anyone else here.
Level-headed. I can't really claim to have reached such heights.
But thank you for your kind words nonetheless.

Schards#2 The most depressing aspect about all this is that we didn't give our best shot. We chose not to strengthen and, therefore, a lot of the wounds are self inflicted.
That will leave many fans terminally disollusioned.

what people are perhaps forgetting is that Bolton are a big ugly team who excell at big ugly football, and are only in the mess down at the bottom because the previous manager tried to make them play open attacking football. They did a job on us. Snuffed us out by keeping the game's tempo at walking pace, distrupting it at every chance, and making sure the ball stayed in the clouds.JimboBeelzebub Right now the team are struggling, struggling against the finest players on the planet. Bolton have the finest players on the planet??????!!!!!
We know that Reading are fully capable of beating half of the teams in the Prem, we've seen them do it. Thats why people are so p*ssed off, if we didn't love our team we wouldn't get so annoyed when they play so far below themselves..

Jeffers217 I will never give up supporting Reading FC whatever division we are in and it is sad to see youngsters shouting abuse at the team when they have only been fans for 2 yrs. Will just be sad to see no stadium expansion but at the end of the day I'd prefer to stay a small club with a fair percentafe REAL FANS rather than having a half empty stand with glory hunters

Do you really believe that?! Don't you remember what happened after the Bolton playofff defeat when the Chairman led an economy drive and we saw the immediate break up of a very good team. Indeed, if you listen to Quinn and Gooding, prior to reaching Wembley they were pleading to be allowed to strengthen the squad but their pleas fell on deaf ears. As a consequence we arrived a the playoff final with a couple of key players missing through injury, at least one playing with an injury and insufficient quality in the squad to replace them.
Do you think the Chairman will learn any lessons from what is happening now? My personal view is that failure at this point may well make him even more stubborn in his views and his (IMO) misguided belief and determination that he can work outside the usual football system and achieve success through a completely different approach to everyone else.
Unless the Chairman changes his views and approach I am absolutely convinced that we will stand no chance whatsoever of bouncing back in the short term. Furthermore fans will become extremely disillusioned as they are again told that they have to pay a very significant percentage of their disposable income for season tickets/tickets in order to finance strengthening our squad etc. In short, the fans will be the ones who ended up paying in every way for the failure of the management.
Enjoy the ride, I will not. Nor, I suspect, will many others.

You and I view our club's history very differently. I too remember what happened after the '95 play-off defeat. The club moved from a dilapidated ground to a great big shiny new one, fit for Premiership football. And over a number of years it strengthened and made its way into the greatest league in the world. It stayed there for two seasons, and although it's looking unlikely at the moment, it could be more. The knee-jerkers here will tell you it's the end of the world. Personally I prefer to see it as a temporary blip like so many we've witnessed before. You can choose to get upset about it or you can choose to accept that supporting a football team comes with both its highs and its lows, its frustrations and its delights. But never forget that it is football. Yes, I spend a considerable amount of my income on Reading Football Club but I never for one minute think that in doing so I am owed anything by it. If I were to do so I would risk insanity and football is a release from all the other tensions in my life, not a source of additional concern.
I'll say it once again. Enjoy the ride.
