I do agree winchester but i can't see us winning at the moment. On the last day of the season, it would be good to have one of those games where we have to win to stay up, but then the following season, everyone will be writing us off.

No cos Madejski and Coppell will spend big in the summer if we stay up. They learnt from their last tranfer policy mistake and reacted accordingly in January didn;t they? Oh.

Winch - I'm not sure I'd say I think this is better than midtable at the mo, but it certainly does have an air of excitement about it.

I think if we stay up with a great return to form and finish 14th, in retrospect I'll much prefer it to have been done this way than just floating around that position all season.

Gordons Cumming
PEARCEY
Gordons Cumming What is most fun is reading about how we are destined for relegation with 13 games to go.

All the negative tosh spouted by so called supporters.

It makes my heart glow.

Alright Gordons. Hand on heart. Do you think we will stay up?

Yes

Well that has torn it!

I'd prefer 10th place and the ability to have a go in the Cup than where we are now but there you go. It's not fun at the moment, I know what it feels like to be a Derby fan. Something I haven't felt for a very long time, probably not been this depressed since our performance at Wigan away in the season they were promoted

winchester_royal so far this season i have been bored. Midtable mediocrity does not suit this club and now the games actually mean something. I for one am excited, anyone share this view?

Me too!

Although I really do not want to go down there is now far more meaning to the games.

In the Lower divisions you have something to aim for. Ever since I started watching we have been promised Premiership football now we are there it seems aiming for survival is just too negative.

I used to love the cup games as you could imagine getting through to semi's etc ( Iknow we never did) but now we don't even have that to look forward to.

Mind you 1 goal in 5 games is prety boring!

Yes it can be exciting being in a relegation scrap, but when you lose 6 on the bounce and have'nt a clue where the next point is coming from that is just plain worrying!

No, not my idea of fun at all
In fact haven't been so depressed since 1995
Fun would be beating Liverpool this season or West Ham last year or drawing at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge
But for those of you who think the good old days were better and that the Championship and League 1 is real football, then you are in luck, because the fun is here to stay.

I thought at the start of last season that we'd struggle, and a relegation dog fight would be exciting. Now we've experienced mid table saftey and are in that fight for survival, I have to say much of the glamour hasn't materialised for me. I quite liked the satisfaction of doing well, and am bored of trying to rationalise why we're now so patently rubbish.

We're in the shit, but the mighty Ian Royal will be at Villa so come along for some much needed points a bit of a shout.

They'd better bloody win because it's my birthday the next day and I haven't had a good one for years. The signs for this year are already pretty crap.

I can well imagine that it will go to the wire and in true Reading style other results will go the way that, had we won, we would have stayed up. Instead we lose! I can see it now. This will confirm that Reading are finally back to their best frustrating old self 1871-2005 (April).

In perfect hindsight, the away end at Saltergate was an exciting place to be on the last day of the 1988/89 season - especially at half time.

Not sure my blood pressure could take that again though.

I might find it exciting if it was clear that the team were fighting for their survival against fearful odds but to see a performance like last Saturday when we threw away what should have been at the very least an easy draw holds no excitement at all!

A question - Only a question!

"If you had a £200k Bentley, had it for a year the it started going rusty what would you do with it?"

a) Sell it bloody quick before the engine packed up as well?

b) Try and repair it and hope nothing else packed up?

c) Say ...."Ah well feck it...Was gonna drive into the ground anyways..."

d) Say.."bollox....I've got the money I'm buy a fecking Ferrari instead"

Just in case there is any doubt - Some of the squad are Bentley's; Some Ferraris and a couple of Mini 850's

madreadingfan i wouldnt mind a must win game to stay up against derby and murty to score it in the last minute  and then a pitch invasion will do me nicely

And just how many people do you think will still be in the ground at the end of that game?

Well ... it's an away game, isn't it? I presume that the pitch invasion would be by angry Derby fans but, as their fate will have already been sealed weeks before, that seems unlikely. There wouldn't be enouugh Royals fans there to make a meaningful "pitch invasion".

Excitement is great, right up to the point it all goes wrong as it sometimes does. I'm not saying it will all go tits by the end of this season, but I enjoyed the excitement of 94-95 including the play-offs. Right up to the last 5 minutes or so of normal time in the final.
