maybe someboday can work something out of this as there have been a couple of POSITIVE posts that mention it

ALWAYS ON MY MIND (Elvis Presley)

Maybe I didn't love you quite as good as I should have,
Maybe I didn't hold you quite as often as I could have,
Little things I should have said and done,
I just never took the time.

You were always on my mind,
You were always on my mind.

Maybe I didn't hold you all those lonely, lonely times,
And I guess I never told you, I'm so happy that you're mine,
If I made you feel second best,
I'm sorry, I was blind.

You were always on my mind,
You were always on my mind,

Tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn't died,
Give me, give me one more chance to keep you satisfied,
If I made you feel second best,
I'm sorry, I was blind.

You were always on my mind,
You were always on my mind.

What about the song 'Oh my darling, Clementine' ? It's fairly slow and has lots of long notes, so its perfect.

The lyrics can be found here: http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Oh_My_Darling%2C_Clementine

how about... start a thread like this when we have an away game, someone make a word doc of songs which could be sung and then everyone who is attending from this site gets sent a copy. and from there people start singing it and it catchs on. or someone print off 100's hand them out and start it off.

We here goes to Elvis's maybe

Maybe we didn't cheer you quite as good as we should have,
Maybe we didn't believe you quite as often as we could have,
Little things we should have said and done,
We just never took the time.

You are always on the ball
You are always on the ball.

Maybe we didn't adore you all those lonely, lonely times,
And we guess we never told you, We’re so happy that you're mine,
If we made you feel second best,
We’re sorry, That is all.

You are always on the ball
You are always on the ball.

Tell us, tell us that your sweet game hasn't died,
Give us, give us one more chance to keep our premier side
If I made you feel second best,
We’re sorry, That is all.

You are always on the ball
You are always on the ball.

Jerry St Clair Give up, We have a stadium full of self-concious accountants who can just about manage to clap along BLARMY but fail miserably to show any other kind of emotion.

We already have a Reading song. It's called Molly Malone. If no-one can be arsed to sing that, what makes you think manufacturing a new one will make any difference?

i join in with molly malone, but what a dump chant.

seriously. it incorporates the one thing people are tying to get rid of, and is way too complex, has bugger all to do with ding, and can only really be sung once through.

nextttt

The Elvis one might be decent, but it's just not well known enough for people to know the words. Anything more than one verse and there's no chance.

The only genuine unique song to Reading was the old "here we go again, bobbing up and down like this", but that was crap. I remember being in front of the fans who decided to start it of for a laugh, just to see if anyone joined in, I think at a frieght rover trophy match at home to Hereford.

If there's one song I'd love to hear fans signing (either at Reading or England games - where the range of songs is dire thanks to that bloody awful england band) is Jerusalem. It does also have a lot of words, but crickets fans amanged to learn them to sing in Australia (although clearly they didn't learn how to spell).

...just noticed this one. Not a suggestion at all, but I just loved the inventive use of euphamism for the word "billabong" in this one

JERUSALEM

And did those feet in ancient time
walk upon England’s mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
on England’s pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine
shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
among these dark Satanic Mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!
I will not cease from mental fight,
nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
till we have built Jerusalem
In England’s green and pleasant Land

I'm a mate of Matejovsky
I'm a mate of Matejovsky
I'm a mate of Matejovsky
And the Czech will keep us up! (up up up)

or more in line with how sung by man you

who the f**k is matejovsky
who the f**k is matejovsky
who the f**k is matejovsky
And the Czech will keep us up up up

Its SOOOOOO Obvious:

"Here We Go AND Here We Go AND Here We Go
If its Blue And White Its Reading You Know
Here We GO wOaaaaaaaaAAAHHHHHH" (AND HOLD)
(AND SLOW IT RIGHT DOWN TO) "Re-ad-ing All Over The World"

Surely everyone knows this tune and the words are really easy to remember..

Now that aint bad, its not too long, pretty good tune and good words, Skin.

The problem with Jerusulam, Always on My Mind etc is they are like Peter Crouch : Too long. By the time we got to the second verse it would be half time. Or more seriously, there would be an incident / action on the pitch, and all our beatiful singing would have been in vein.
