The Football League Ups and Downs

by Tredder » 23 Feb 2008 17:22

Prem:

Man Utd Arsenal or Chelsea

Derby seem to have gone, Fulham can't win at the moment and the 3rd spot is between the Royals, Brum, Sunderland, Bolton and Wigan, i think Wigan will be ok as will Bolton, Newcastle could easily get dragged into it if they lose today to Man Utd

Championship:

Automatics look likely to be between Stoke, WBA, Watford and Bristol City, i think Stoke and Watford will go up, play offs could any of the above 4 plus Plymouth Charlton Wolves Ipswich and Burnley and my fancy would be the baggies.

Scunthorpe Preston Colchester Sheff Wed and Leicester look likely to scrap it out

Division 1:

Swansea are up, Forest Doncaster Southend Carlisle Walsall Tranmere look likely to contest the other automatic and i fancy Tranmere to clinch it with Forest winning through the play offs

Port Vale Luton and Bournemouth have already gone, the play off debacle should be between Millwall Cheltenham Crewe Gillingham and i think Crewe will go.

Division 2:

The automatics should be contested between MK Dons, Hereford, Darlington, Peterborough Wycombe and Rotherham, i think MK Dons, Peterbrough and Darlington should get them.
The play offs will be won by Hereford

Wrexham looked doomed and i think they will be joined by Macclesfield with Mansfield being saved because the Maccs form is terrible at the moment.

Aldershot and Torquay to come up from the conference.

Any other tips?

Hereford have an awful record in the PO's.

The smart money is on the Grecians to join Aldershot in the football league

Burton Albion still has a game in hand against Histon, sometimes Albion play really well, sometimes really poor. If they win, go above Exeter on games played. Much like Torquay trailing Aldershot all season long, takes alot more character to win the league coming from behind on games played. Just like everyone going crazy about Liverpool dropping out of the top 4, well they had games in hand. Look where they are now. It's ridiculous that television networks and cups can allow the leagues to let clubs get so behind.

for instance, crawley town currently 16th on 39 points from 29 games,
one point above them is woking with 34 games played.
had crawley played the same amoun to of games, could see them on 54 points and up on 6th. how much these can affect players, i don't know, but i'm sure it does.

The 'Dale for the play-offs and a first promotion in 40+ years... if they can match their away form at Spotland in their games in hand.

Stoke better watch themselves.

Having lost 2-0 to Preston, being 2-0 down inside 20 minutes at QPR isn't really what they want I'd imagine

I believe that there's been more away wins than home wins in league 2 this season

Hereford have messed up now. MK Dons, Peterborough and Darlo for automatics. Stockport for Playoffs.

Is the Gary Johnson managing Bristol City the guy who once managed Latvia or Lithuania?

Stoke add Jay Boothroyd and will get Nugent if he's he fit soon.

Still think Stoke will do it. Would be interesting to see Pulis is the Prem, to say he's old school is putting lightly, makes Coppell look media friendly!!
