Andre Bikey - what do you reckon?

I've always felt that this boy is a star in the making and I still think he may end up as a holding midfielder.

At his age he's some way from the finished article but he's been held up by Coppell's reluctance to break up an established backline that leaked goals in large numbers almost from the start of the season.

Bikey's man marking of Andy Johnson was the main event in our home win over Everton but Coppell then put him on the back burner and left him there even after the old guard let in 7 at Pompey

He's currently as vital at the back as Sonko once was and, if he stays there, it's a case of who his long term partner will be...................not Ivar IMHO.

I must admit i always like the fact that you ALWAYS say he marked Johnson out of the game, which he did. Johnson was very quiet at Goodison Park as well, Bikey didn't play. You also make it sound that after putting in such a sensational display against Everton, he was callously and harshly dropped. When in reality he was bullied by Kenwyne Jones up at Sunderland, played in the 3-0 massacre at Bolton and also was ran ragged in the cup against Liverpool.

Bikey has absolutely everything to be a brilliant player, I said a year ago that in 12 months time he'll be head and shoulders above Sonko. Within another 12 months he'll be even better. He's now an essential first team player and there is more to come.

He still has huge lapses in concentration and communication with his fellow defenders. ALOL @ him being a midfielder as everyone still thinks he will be

My learned friends who are lucky enough to spend Saturdays following the Royals the length and bredth of the country, what have we here, Bikey would appear to have gone to the African Nations as an ok Centre Back or maybe Midfielder, but has come back an accomplished and quality Centre Back, my question is he the genuine thing, certainly the management have always gone to great lengths about his ability and potential, and he has now curbed his discipline, I for one have loved him since he has been here, the original rough diamonmd who might just turn out to be something special and 3 out of four clean sheets since he has been back in the side on a regular basis says a lot !

A heck of a lot of us wanted him in the starting line-up way before the African Nations.
Bikey is proving to be an absolute bargain at about £1 million or whatever it was we paid for him.
He also nearly scored the winner although I missed it as my 5 year old sons foot got entagled in the back of his seat....thanks to the man behind us whoever you were for helping him out you were a gentleman.

I'd settle for Bikey still being here after Coppell's left...............................the fact that our manager hasn't elected to play him whilst his team has been in free fall (including last seasons relegation) and leaking goals for fun, makes any other outcome pointless.

And here we are a year later... interesting discussion about the merits of Bikey - much of what was said at the time seems so very relevant today.

I find it strangely sad that nothing seems to have changed.

Coppell knows more about football than the rest of the contributors put together (and he obviously has his reasons) but I do have a strong suspicion that if Bikey had played a bit more often in 2008 we might have gained that vital extra point last season, or, that aside, if he had been an ever present this season we might have been a little more solid, and dare I say it, entertaining.

He is reminding me of sonko (when he was shit), no ability to pass the ball or even trap/touch the ball properly all he can do well is head the ball

Bikey is a terrific player. Winchester_royal's belief that he is a complete donkey I can't understand. Yes he lapses in concentration, but he is very comfortable on the ball, a good passer, strong in the air, and quick. A very good centre-back, and a player who should be ever-present at Reading.

This morning, Murty, when asked about Bikey, just said he is fit, but just isn't in the squad. And then he just said how Bikey was swearing alot in many languages at the game on Saturday. I think Murts was trying to be funny in an attempt to deflect further questions.
