Hoop Blah We need quality players who can improve our side from day one of next season.

Where they come from doesn't really bother me, as long as they turn out to be better than we've got.

I'd much rather we gambled on the likes of Kightly or Gera than another Fae or Kebe though.

Agreed.

Ben Watson has been linked with us a number of times and I think he would fill the void left by Sidwell (no not to keep up the ginger quotient in the team but as a holding midfielder)

Others to look at:
Zoltan Gera
Joe Ledley
Brian Howard
Ishmael Miller
Jack Hobbs

But I guess we will just do what we always do and go scouting in the minor French or Bulgarian leagues for a cheap as chips player with potential.....when are we going to start thinking like a big club? Every other Premiership club takes a gamble with a few big name players and very rarely do you see the ones who have spent big down at the bottom.

We seem insistent on sending out our good youth team players on loan rather than bring them in......Pearce, Golbourne, Henry should all get a chance as far as I am concerned.
We are far too risk adverse when it comes to the youth team.

I can't believe the clammer to sign Zoltan Gera.

He has had lots of injury problems
Was not noticeable on the pitch on Saturday
If he was that good, he would have been snapped up already

Just think he is an relatively high profile player, but not actually that good.

He's the new Jason Koumas.

He did have a couple of off seasons, mainly due to injuries from what I can see, but he's performed consistently well in international football and was a very creative player for West Brom in their first season in the Premiership.

As far as experienced like for like replacements for Little go, Gera seems to be the closest example within our realistic price range.

I wouldn't say there has been much of a clammer, but he does fit the profile of the kind of player that is out there that might be good for us.

For next season, assuming it's in the Prem, it is vital IMO that we think bigger than the Championship for our key signings. We need at very least three new players with successful experience at this level. Any from the lower level must be the pick of the crop, not "ones for the future". We have enough of those.

Coppelled Streets Wayne Hennessy (sp?) - Wolves keeper.

Have been talking to a Wolves fan of many years standing who says that Matt Murray when fit would not displace Hennessy from the Woves side. Hennessy has done well at national level as well. If Fed is not deemed good enough he is well worth a look

Worked the Stoke Palace game last night.

Not the best of games. Thought Riggot (on loan from Boro) looked good.

Still think if Fuller had a better attitude he'd be perfect for us, certainly not a Coppell type player.

Didn't think too much of Watson, great set pieces, not the ball winner we need though.

Gera is no better than Oster. In fact I would say Oster is the better player.
Zoltan Gera is just a very ordinary player, very average. Not very creative, not a flair player. Basicly a one-trick pony.
His "dribbling skills" consist of just knocking the ball on beyond the opposing player and trying to run after it, something which will not work in this division but probably works fine against relegation fodder in the championship.

Gera is not good enough to play for us, and I am very tired of hearing about him.

I'd rather see us going for Kightly or Whaley. They are much better players.

Gera might not be the best player in the world but he is better than Oster! At least Gera can score goals with both feet or his head and to say he's not creative is stretching it a bit. He's created plenty of goals for Hungary and West Brom over the years and his crossing and eye for a pass have always impressed me.

The fact he can play upfront a bit has got to be a bonus for a squad as small as ours too.

Do we really care?

If he'd improve the team then Kits can go fcuk himself.

Chris Brunt(WBA)- excellent crosser
Ivan Sproule(BC)- Very very fast and good crosser
Chris Iwelumo (CHA)- Absolute giant, hes massive and good header of the ball
Danny Shittu- Big, Strong centre back
Adie moses(CP)- Palace young winger(I think) very young and doing very well

He won't want to drop down a division again.
