Tends to work that way, yes, but this is going off topic.

No way!

Wow, by posting a solitary photo, you've completely disproved my comment. Maybe the plural of anecdote is data?

LOL at this thread. Just because more Reading fans went to this game than other away games, people genuinally believe they should be apologised to after that display. The display was dissapointing, but we've been worse at other places this season.

Expenditure for last weekend:
£168 - Air tickets
£158 - Hotel (2 nights)
£60 - match tickets
£100 - all food & beer
£260 - train tickets home (after the return flight was cancelled... )

£746 spent, but with nearly £350 to come back from BA, still leaving £400 spent.

Our choice in the way we spent the weekend, our choice in what we ate and drank, our choice to go to the game...do we deserve an apology?

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Wouldn't cross my mind, wouldn't expect it. Support is all about ups and downs. If you can't cope with the downs, find another sport where your team meets your expectations week in, week out, year in, year out and never plays badly.

What he said, less the expenditure. Are we going to demand an apology for every dire performance the players put in? If that's the case then it just goes to show how pathetic Reading fans are.

MR. CYNICAL Well,Coppell went on about how he wanted to thank each and every fan that took the trouble to go to newcastle and said how much the players appreciated the support of their fans at away games, how about an apology for that excuse of a performance today.
640 bloody miles i drove today to watch that utter surrender.Need i say any more? We were a shambles 2nd half. The players should be ashamed!!!

Nope, still don't get it. I must be one of the children you refer to

Maybe you don't understand the rules of competition, it means that sometimes the other side is better than you. If you can't cope with that concept it is you that is the spoilt child who can't always get what they want. At the end of the day it is your decision. If you don't like it, don't go.

I think both sides have valid points to make. First 35 mins we played well and didn't deserve to be 2-0 down at half time. The second half was a combination of a lackluster Reading performance and a some great play by Newcastle. Let's not forget that Newcastle's movement and passing was great at times in the second.

However, I do resent (if only slightly) trudging up to the cold (and sh*t) north of England to see a lack of effort by the players and some pretty poor play. There won't be many teams in the bottom four or five with a sell-out away contingent. Some people should acknowledge that before they get all high and mighty by refusing to criticise the team. Football is also a product nowadays whatever people might say. And if a product is crap you say so. I didn't hear anyone boo the players at the game - and rightly so - but they've got every right to have a go and vent their frustration afterwards.

A day tripper is not someone who travels away just for the day, as opposed to spending the weekend there.
It means someone who rarely travels to away matches, and does so 'for the day out'.

OK, enough's enough, you moronic twat. I don't believe there's one single person that's tried to answer your inane question by saying they are so easily pleased. I certainly wasn't happy with the performance, but I believe I'm mature enough to cope with it and not stamp my little feet. If you think that you driving there and back in a single day warrants more of an apology than those who spent the weekend there, then you are simply deluded. If you want to continue to believe that you "deserve" an apology, you crack on.
Don't call us thick, don't call us stupid, don't refer to us as "children" because we continue to reply to your frankly inconsequential original post. There is nothing to understand about it, it simply needed rebutting. You continue to implore us to read it more carefully as if there's some open meaning that we haven't grasped yet, but don't worry, I've certainly got it - you are the hero of the day at Newcastle and deserve a fcuking medal.

I have sympathy with the sentiment of the post. When you've travelled all that way and spent all that money, although there are no guarantees of success or even of decent performance, you do expect the highly-paid players representing the team that you support to put in the effort and that was sadly lacking in the second half. I don't see what all the fuss is about as clubs on many occasions have apologised to fans. Some have even offered, for example, free transport by way of apology. On this occasion, Nicky Shorey, et al, has all but apologised anyway so job done as far as I'm concerned.
