OOTM your thoughts echo mine. Pro's & cons both ways but I am not convinced that if relegated we will return to the PL in my lifetime.

If we get relegated I don't want SC to stay it was his fault.

Our last scheduled midweek league game was on Wed Aug 15 against Chelsea

We had Arsenal home on Monday 12th Nov re- arranged for sky, but had to miss out on the Saturday game!

I know we had Spuds and Liverpool in the cup, but that is it for a season!

Poor return for the lovers of midweek games.

Id be happy to stay in this league if our striker doesnt come out and say he doesnt want to be in the FA Cup, or if we are in a chance of winning a European place and have a game against the bottom club, then we make a half fight of winning the game. Otherwise, the only thing left for Reading FC to do is compete for the championship - if thats not beneath them.

exactly - the Premier League is where we should all want this club to be, whether we plan on shelling out the money for season tickets and going to games at weird times because of the added interest from sky. but if we go down it's not the end of the world.

if we went down to leauge one after that i'd call that a disaster - going down now will just be a disappointment because we could and should have avoided it..... but hopefully it won't come to that and maybe this scrape will make mr mad realise you have to speculate a little more than he has done so far - not to accumulate - but just to keep up with the rest of the league

it says to me that people who get lucky in business and make millions aren't always people who know an awful lot about how to use it. nobody's going to buy this club for what he wants for it unless we're relatively established in the premier league. if we go down he's going to have to wildly slash his asking price, which means he has two options - cut and run before there's any chance of doing a leeds or stick with it and hope he can get us back in the premiership.

i'm not saying that he should be throwing really silly money at it, just substantially more than he has done - otherwise how does he ever expect to get the club sold for the amount he wants? if you ask me he was greedy - after one season of wildly over-performing he thought it was going to be a doddle - next thing we're doing crap and he thinks to himself i'm not gonna gamble any money trying to keep the club up because we could still go down. wrong attitude - for a handful of millions he has the chance to make substantially more from the sale of the club. the guy has no balls

If we, as I believe we will, go down then I will be dissapointed, but I will also put it into perspective as their are far more important things in life. It won't be nice looking at the fixture list, but we have been spoilt the last few season. After all, we are only 'little Reading' and relegation was soemthing to be expected. I personally thought we would go straught back down so this season was a bonus.

how upset will you be if we go down?

by Chaney » 21 Apr 2008 12:18

my self, of course I don`t want to see us relegated, but having said that I`ve seen it all before, relegation from the 2nd and 3rd tier of English football, on each occasion I have felt as if my world had caved in, but on each and every occasion the team as responded and bounced back!
Would it be good for us to have a few seasons back in the championship?..the answer is possibly because we have never been in the top league bouncing back will be a huge task, lessons have to be learned after this debacle of a season, whether this will be done with sir Steve in charge is open to debate.
on a scale of 1 to 10, how do you think relegation (if it happens) will effect you?
a 1 would mean you couldn`t really give a shit..a 10 means you will probably go home kick the cat and vow never to go again!!!

I'll be a little bit upset for my son, who at 13 has hardly known what disappointment means when it comes to RFC. But it's character-building, isn't it?

Of course I mind... otherwise...what the hell is the point!!!

If we stay up we may well find us in the situation at this season, but it is what we all strive for...top flight football.

If we go down then there are two scenarios... firstly we end up mid to top half of table a la Watford, Shef Utds and Charlton... I wouldnt want that.

Or, scenario two.... we end up romping the league or are in top two all season and go back up only to find ourself in the same situation... so what is the point??

Prem is where we all want to be and then build from there, I have seen us struggle in the lower leauges for years, I have seen us both do really well and also struggle in the second tier many a time. I have seen 1 good and 1 bad season in the top flight of English football. I want to see more of that please.
