HARPER A LEGEND?? mY A*SE!

It's the mark of Harper's importance to this Reading team that when he plays badly, the team play badly. Fulham and Bolton at home were, IMHO, Harper's poorest games this season and both times we looked clueless as a team in possession. You can citicise Harper for playing badly (everyone can have an off day), but he rarely does, and he always gives 100% (which plenty of players did not on Saturday).

Like an earlier poster, I think Coppell fundamentally lost the tactical battle even before kick off. Doyle and Long together upfront was a disastrous choice (particularly the Doyle half of it), he also didn't adjust his tactics when this obviously wasn't working, and failed dismally to put any fire in the bellies of his team, before the game, at half time, or at any other point in the match.

Yes Harper didn't play well - but we had much more fundamental problems.

When people speak of someone as a legend (not entirely sure people do about Harps?) it's for the service he has given over a number of years. Your argument surely is whether he is good enough to hold down a place in our Premiership team and not whether this guy has given us his all for several years. There is no point in arguing with Royalee. He has a dogma that comes from youthful and intentional avoidance of facts. Possibly why he has ended up at the south coat's finest educational establishment rather than a truly academic one elsewhere?

Had you been to Middlesbrough and watched just how bad we were that day, you wouldn't be lauding any player's performance that day. Yes, Harper scored the goal, but he was dire for 99% of that game. Not to mention most of the other 16 away games in which we've failed to win.
