Huntley & Palmer West Ham

Are they finally going to get their points deducted for the Tevez affair? ;)

Row Z Royal In all my panicking, I'd forgotten about Brum. Looking at those results, I can see us at least matching their points haul over the remaining 4 games. Saying that, they've got two at home compared to our 1, though one of those is wasted by playing Liverpool.

Somewhat agreed, RZR, but I think it all depends on what happens in the race for 4th over the next week. If Chelsea win at Goodison on Thursday and Liverpool beat Fulham on Saturday, Benitez will put out a reserve side against Brum to save his players for the 2nd leg of the CL semi-final.

He did the same at Craven Cottage last year which led to Colin having a proper hissy fit as had Fulham not beaten Liverpool, they would have been relegated rather than Sheff Utd.

Gordons Cumming I fear the worst.

I really hope you're joking!! You've spent the whole season giving us false hope otherwise!

I've voted for RFC in the desperate hope that I will be made to look stupid! I'll gladly live with that if it keeps us safe from relegation.

Royal Rother
Richi Royal we have a history of bottling it when we need to win

(Long term) history is completely irrelevant.

Sadly it is not just long term history! Would you keep betting on a lame horse that lost every time it turned up for a big race?!! Maybe you were one of those who kept putting money on Frank Bruno winning!

How many times this season have we gone into 'must win' games only for the team to fail abjectly?

Wouldn't matter if you clicked RFC a million times.

If we're down, we're down.
If we stay up, we stay up.

Que sera, sera....

That was before the Fulham game. Difficult to be optimistic after that performance.

Everyone thinks because of the Champions League Liverpool will capitulate in their league games. I don't think so. There are players who will want to impress the manager and push for a place in the team.

Looking at the last 4 fixtures Reading have the easiest run in.

The ball is still in our court and 3 points should be enough as I really do not see Bolton or Fulham getting more than 34. Frankly if we do go down from this position it will be an absolute disgrace. But I have faith in the manager and the players and I am sure we will do enough to survive - just one win needed and we are playing Arsenal and Spurs who have nothing to play for - Wigan could well be all but safe by the time we play them and Derby who have been rubbbish so far. If we cannot get three points out of that lot even I as an avowed RTG will want someone's head on a plate.

where do people see our points coming from

we can't score goals

we haven't scored since the 5th minute at liverpool, thats 355 minutes of football without a single goal

we have scored 7 goals in our last 13 games, almost 0.5 goals a game

Do I think we can get any points off Wigan, Arse or Spurs - No!
Do I think Bolton will get points off Boro, Spurs or Sunderland - Yes
Do I think Fulham will 5 points off Liverpool, Man City and Brum - Yes
Do I think Brum can get anything off Villa, Liverpool and Fulham - maybe

I think the last day of the season will be very very interesting*!

Not wanting the facts to get in the way of your negativity but it is only 281 minutes without a goal as we had two against Brum and we have scored 8 in the last 13 (not that good admittedly).

Why is it that most hobnobbers think Reading will lose every game and everyone else will win every game. That has not been happening all season so why now?

The fact is that the bottom 5 are not even averaging 1 point a game and I doubt this will change any time soon. We just have to do a little better than the rest.

Over the last 4 games

Reading have 4 points
Boro 5
Bolton 4
Brum 4
Wigan 5
Sunderland 9
Fulham 4
Derby 1

So apart from Sunderland (good) and Derby (bad) there is nothing in it.

I reckon we will go to Derby needing to win and hoping other clubs do us a favor. In true Reading FC style, we will bottle it and lose to Derby and go down. The other teams have players with grit determination and skill that can change a macth on their own. Just consider Bullard, Nolan & McFadden. we have nobody of tha calibre in our team and that may be the decidng factor. Our unwillingness to SPLASH THE WARCHEST may prove our undoing, and if that is the reason we go, we can have no complaints.

Sorry but the ball was in our court when we failed to beat Bolton or Fulham, home or away. Just one win from one of those four games and we'd be a lot safer than we are now.

So I hope we can win one of our last four but this season has severely drained what faith I have in the side to do what is needed. In fact, what faith in the side could you have given the season we've had? Hope? Yes, I can understand that but surely you want to have some evidence that the side can do something.

And even the most fervent RTG has got to admit that there is precious little evidence there. Of course, there's some. We'd be in Derby's shoes if there wasn't.

Would you seriously rather be us needing a win at Derby or Bolton needing to win at Chelsea or Fulham needing to win at Pompey?

If we lose to Derby and the other two win then we deserve to go down and frankly we should be looking for a new team. I just think you need to be a real pessimist not to see survival as the most likely outcome.

And it was also in our hands against Brum and Boro and we won those so just picking two games doesn't really so much of a picture.

Until our fate is in the hands of somebody else I'll believe we can stay up. I've accepted relegation as a possibility but don't think currently it'll come to pass.

It's the old adage, we've got the points on the board and I'd rather be us than Brum, Bolton or Fulham at the moment.
