messages to an Aldershot fan

by Beelzebub » 15 Apr 2008 19:10

I have a friend who untill he moved to Australia was a life long Aldershot season ticket holder. Obviously there is a fair bit of Footy based banter between us.

Please feel free to add your messages of luck to Aldershot in this thread so I can send him all the happy wishes from the Reading massive!

You're so loud you sound like Aldershot...

Now that was funny hearing that at Anfield.

The terrace behind the goal is cool, really big, bet that would get noisy in there. But the rest of the ground is pretty grim.

Aldershit.

I would love it if we get them in the League Cup next season.

The Rec is a timewarp. not a lot has changed since we used to have to play them in the 80's.

I have mixed feelings about their revival....supporting Reading FC all my life but now living on the doorstep of The Rec

Half of me is glad they're back in the league. It increases the chances of getting to play them in a cup.
For lots of younger fans, Aldershot will never be considered a rival for Reading. For slightly older ones like me, they always will be.

The other half of me hopes they over-spend/fcuk up financially and go bust again. Or at the very least get relegated and slip back into non-league obscurity. That would amuse me no end.

Hopefully they'll never be a real local rival for us again, but you never know. By this i mean i hope we're never at their level again.
The longer you go without regularly playing them the less the rivalry becomes.

It's fair to say that our fortunes have gone in different directions in the last 16 years since they wnet bust. It's important to remember that what happened to The Shots could easily have happened to us without JM.

So Congrats on coming back from the dead and fingers crossed for a favourable cup-draw next season.

ELOLectronic turnstiLOLes. Mate is happy though as he went to the Exeter game last night, party time in the Golden Lion by all accounts. Fair play to them, thought they would struggle again and oxf*rd it in the playoffs.

Am I the only one to spot the irony that in the same week that Aldershot get promotion back to the FL the real way, by starting right at the bottom - Mk Dons also get promotion up a league?

No you are not. I thought the same thing.

I have little respect for the Shots but I do give them credit for doing it the way it should be done. The fact it give us a higher chance of playing them is a good thing.

Well done, great achievement but I wish people would stop banging on about their return to the football league. They are not Aldershit FC, they're Aldershot Town, a new club that has raced up the leagues.

I wish them good fortune and trust that we will never have an opportunity to build up a rivalry like we did with that bunch of uttercunts from the same town.
