Beat Wigan and Spurs and we will be in the Premier League next season.

We have the best run in out of all the teams down the bottom.
So i believe we can stay up.

There is hope that this shoddy Reading team can yet stay up.

Brum managed 2 draws against Arsenal and are not easy to beat on their own patch. Even though they got thrashed today, I still think they have better players than us and stand more of a chance of staying up, plus they have better goal difference.

We are still screwed.

Yep certainly could have done with Villa scoring a few more!

Still 5 -1 hasn't hurt us any!

I think Fulham v Brum game could have a lot of bearing on our position.....if Brum don't win against Liverpool, Fulham lose to City, even if we lose to Wigan and Bolton beat Spurs, Fulham will have to win the Brum game to avoid going down.....that could benefit us!!

I suspect today's Birmingham result is only really prolonging a false hope for our own survival.

I really can't see us getting anything at all from the game at the JJB as the PL have allowed Wigan to prepare a pitch that gives them an incredible home advantage. Who else gets to practise playing PL football on a cabbage patch every other week?!

I agree that Wigan away doesn't look hopeful but by god the team better be fired up for Spurs at home and Derby away as we are going to need at least four points from those two matches to stay up..they will need to fight and scrap for everything as well as find someone to find the net

IF, and I mean IF, we start shooting, then (especially on Wigan's pitch) we might just get lucky, and that could bring points, but I am worried we won't get another point this year, simply because we have zero efforts on goal, so quite where the next goal will come from is beyond me.

Make no mistake, Reading are good enough to get 7 points from our games, IF SC and co can install confidence into the players.

The season we strolled the CCC, we had a "shoot on sight" mentality, and it worked, but at the moment, we seem to be looking to create the "perfect goal from 5 yards out", and it's simply not working for us.

I pray we survive, but if I am honest, assuming we do, we need to add approx 5 PROVEN Premiership players to that squad, and that costs money, money I don't think the club will sanction, so I fear we are prolonging today what will happen next May.

The club are at a cross-roads, they have to realise that the recent record in signing players is piss poor, and the cheap/one for the future/rough diamond isn't working, and although packing a team of Prem players isn't a guarantee of success, it sure will help.

Sorry to say JM/SC, the time has come to allow the club to kick on, if that's not part of your long term plans, then maybe the saviours of this club should let someone else have a go.

And no, before anyone says JM is trying to sell, no-one will ever convince me that we've had no offers that are sensible.

A saving grace possibly, Spurs have nothing to play for and we might just get a win. I don't fancy our chances in either of the away games, Derby County or not.

The thing is, if we can't beat Fulham, Bolton and Wigan, then what right do we have to say that we deserve to stay up.

If we'd got one win from the Fulham and Bolton home games, then we'd be pretty much safe now.

I don't care about yesterday's game - we will get a couple of points from the CL clubs but not many. No point worrying about the games, you know the financial score. But throughout this season, we have lost or underperformed against our rivals. If we do that in the last games against those sides, then we will be relegated and we will have deserved it.

Actually, did you see them against Aston Villa?
We might not need another win the way they played.

Given the results today, the straw that I am clinging to is that Wigan will be satisfied with a point, which although not mathematical, will virtually see them safe. A 0-0 cautious bore draw is perhaps on the cards.

I think we'd take a point as well.

We did still manage to beat Liverpool, and draw at Old Trafford...

What i can't get over is, after club record of 8 straight losses, we then win two, lose - as expected - to Liverpool and draw with Blackburn, which IMO is a good run of results...

Only to go on another piss poor run, i cant get my head around this confidence factor, because Surely we should of had it after that run...?!

But in the grand scheme of things, a bonus and only two points better than last season in the (vaguely) corresponding fixtures.

I would willingly have swapped a win at home to Fulham and a draw at Bolton for those games.

Our survival would be a lot more assured if we had beaten those two sides around us home and away. Simple.

we are hardly a great footballing side, so i dont see how the pitch would make that much difference, it will probably bring a fewer players back to reality, they may play better!
