Why not get yourself to the JJB and support the team!

Because it involves getting up at about 7, going to the Mad Stad for a four/five hour journey there and back, watching Reading play dire football and get thumped, and paying for it into the bargain.

See you there 8)

With Wigan tickets only costing £20, and the STAR coach only costing £5, that's a total cost of £25 for this Saturday, which is less than you would pay to watch a home match at the Madstad. Cost is not an issue for this Saturday and the lads need your backing more than at any other point this season. Get yoursellf up to Wigan and do your bit. You can also sample the finest pies in the premier league whilst there.

£25 too much to watch two shocking sides on a terrible pitch. Hoof ball galore on saturday and we'll probably lose.

If we play hoofball there's no point turning up, we'll get hoofed off the pitch. I know we've played the most long balls proportionally this year but we're not any good at it! Otherwise our only hope is to nick a goal somewhere and hold on frantically.

heskey will have us in his pocket on saturday, backing him to score one and create the other in a 2-0 home win. I was there the last time we won at wigan, cold tuesday evening with a andy hughes solo run, and a nicky forster deflected goal. I got food poisoning that night and nearly had the shtis in my mates car on the way back, was sick for a week.
Great night tho. Much preferred those days than these.

We won the season after that as well, Forster scored twice. I remember some pundit saying he was the best striker outside the Prem.

I stand corrected, went to the play off game up there and then the 1-0 wigan win last season which was terrible, I expect another game like that on saturday. Wigan V Reading games always lack quality.

OldBiscuit Betting on the opposition? Tut Tut tut!

When you support Reading, having a punt on the opposition to win is potentially a very useful softener on the old pocket to claw back some of the hard-earned wasted on another drab defeat; I would perhaps liken it to burgling someone's house to feed your crack habit.

Not that my experiences of such treachery are particularly good - I was once on to win 175 quid at half time for having a punt on Millwall to win 3-0 at the MadStad with Neil Harris to score first. The game ended 4-3 Millwall  . A 2-0 bet on Palace to win at the Madj a year or two later was - as I had been crowing to my fellow suffering East Stand pals - at least going to pay for the day and as I left on 90 minutes to make my way towards the betting stand Andy Johnson rolled in a third just as I reached the bottom of the stand. I could at once hear the very justified hoots of hilarity and derision from the up the top and I tore up my betting slip and ate it as I walked into the concourse and mooched off home :x.

In summary then - if betting on your own team is indeed akin to burglary of a dwelling to pay for your habit then I am probably the Norman Stanley Fletcher of RFC supporters.

LOL at old man Daniella talking about 2002 as if they were the "good ol' days".

That night was actually a significant night for Wigan and Paul Jewell. Up until that point their policy (under Rioch and Bruce before him) was based entirely on buying name players from higher divisions and paying top whack for the Division. Jewell was astonished that night at our levels of fitness and had a long chat after the game with Pardew and more pertinently Niall Clarke. Shortly afterwards he went out and employed a Sports Scientist and they never looked back.
