Cardiff are WELSH

by Mr Irascible » 25 Apr 2008 00:09

So they want it both ways...English FA Cup, English League but play the "Welsh anthem"...make your minds up boyos! I think a welcome set of banners on the three motorway junction bridges as they pass up the M4 to Wembley is in order! Any ideas for content?

and yet I'd still rather they won it than the utterly loathsome Portsmouth. It's like choosing AIDS or Cancer.

The end result is the same, fcuking shit.

I thought Cardiff hadn't requested it but the FA have decided to play it anyway, so not really their fault...

The FA have said though that if Pompey win the cup and finish 5th then Cardiff won't be entered, the spot will go to 6th instead.

Natch, as Pompey would be taking the Cup slot, the league slot would move down. The runners up only claim the cup slot if the winners are in the Champions League.

unless Pompey finish in a UEFA cup spot. Which they won't as it'll be Everton and Villa.

Personally I don't how anyone can have a problem with playing the Welsh national anthem at Wembley. The FA cup is not exclusively for English teams so why should non English teams not be able to play their own anthem?

I think having a Welsh team in the final is fantastic, shows that the acceptance of Britains diversity is also in football.

LOL @ disliking someone because they born on a particular side of an imaginary line in the ground.

People wouldn't mind so much if the the Welsh, particularly Cardiff City supporters weren't so anti-English. You go to Ninian Park and you're always greeted with anti-English songs and in the past the club have encouraged this. If they dislike the English so much, they can fook right off and play in their own Welsh league.

They do however like the English when it suits or benefits them. Financially and football wise.

The league is for both English & Welsh teams, not only English.

A minority of a teams football fans singing anti English songs to try and wind up English people does not make all Welsh people anti English.

You probably haven't been to Ninian park as you only started supporting Reading since they were promoted to the Prem.
