A reflection of the season. Start well, lose heart after 20 minutes when we haven't scored, concede. Push forward when it's too late, little attempt to pass the ball, second best in midfield. Slip out of the Premiership with one of the most pathetic battles against survival in memory - 1 point in 15 anyone?

Derby (1) 1-0 Reading (Miller 25)

Attendance - relieved to find there will be one team as bad as them next year

Scenario 1

Derby 0 - Reading 1
Mateovsky.

Reading fans don't know whether to clap or boo depending on other results coming in,- then discover we're still down. They burst their inflatables and fight with each other. I shall cry.

Journey home - in silence sat in back of car, with Schards and his brother either not talking the whole journey home or non-stop moaning from them, plus shouting at the phone-in on 606 or whatever happens to be on. I consume the bottle of wine I've hidden down the back of the seat.

Scenario 2

Derby 0 - Reading 1 (Mateovsky)
Reading fans don't know whether to clap or boo depending on other results coming in - then discover we're staying up. They go mental - everyone hugs everyone else - Floyd shouts "get in!" AP fondly calls Pride Park "a cauldron of optimism for Reading fans". We drive home euphoric but after about half an hour, Schards and his brother decide who's going to leave and who we can bring in. They shout at the phone-in on 606. I consume the bottle of wine I've hidden down the back of the seat.

Derby 1-1 Reading, when a win would have been enough, as I think Birmingham will lose, and Fulham will draw.

The two worst, talentless, dire teams the prem with the worst defences imaginable fight out a dull tactless utterly boring 0-0, and Fulham & Birmingham both lose so the Royals stay up...........................and immediately start scouring the lower divisions throughout europe to find some more hopeless shite.....................for next years struggle

0-0
Harper taken Off--for trying too score
Crowd: unfortunate to be there

I'm confident that we'll break our scoring duck and pop 7 past them to overcome the goal difference problem.

Right, got that ridiculous enthusiasm out of my system. We're going to slump to Derby's second victory of the season, get relegated and cry into our Costa Coffee from Watford Gap services.

I can just see Derby 2 Reading 0 as a final score and final insult of the season, with Fulham losing as well and Birmingham winning to keep them up.

Derby's home record is actually better than our away record, and defeat would give us our joint worst ever away league record, since going down in 30/31 with just 1 away win and 4 draws. A draw would be our second worst away league season ever. A win would lift it to the dizzy heights of 4th worst ever in points, but only 6th worst in number of wins.

Only in the southern league days were we worse away, winning only two away games in three seasons between 1896/7 and 1898/9 (1-2-7, 1-4-6 & 0-6-6), going 1-6-7 in 1900/01 and worst of all 0-4-17 in 1909/10.

Derby 2 - 3 Reading

Royals 2 down at half time, but Harper pulls up and Coppell had to bring on Matejovksy into midfield, with a proper defensive man behind him to give him more freedom. He slides through the first through pass for Lita, then slips in Hunt down the left who cuts back for Kitson to tap in. In the last minute Shorey and Marek do the Beckham - Scholes corner routine, which Marek hits with perfection in off the angle and we all go mad.

But then Fulham beat Pompey and it counts for nowt.
