Kevin Dillon o dear o dear

You've been a great servant to the club, but your comments to the media can be described as nothing else as a cock up, and here is Derby's response:

Can I add that collectively our interviews this week have now fired up Derby and have also told out players that if we stay up they'll be replaced. Played.......

It has been done, Dillion is a pratt but are you honestly surprised? Our management team are not exactly bright are they?

If we can't beat Derby we deserve to go down. Is there anyone anywhere in the world who disagrees with this. Jewell practically says it's true. Maybe he should put his own words up on the wall if he wants to rile his players up.

Someone please post this article in our dressing room. We should now be equally fired up to stick a boot up Jewell's overly offended arse.

Dillon has a point and his statement was certainly no worse than John Gregory's comments prior to the 02-03 season. Derby are the poorest Prem side ever and they just can't hack it that Reading have been consistently better than them for some years. The way some Derby fans talk, they have already won next season's Championship title. IMO, their current line up would struggle in League 1

Dillon's comments are symptomatic of the mess the club have been in this season.

Rather than firing up the opposition, who didn't really have that much to play for , other than their fans, before he opened his gob, he should have been focusing his efforts on getting his own team in the right frame of mind. It would be nice to see some real fire in their bellies!

Maybe he is being very clever with it. Just putting the extra incentive on the Reading team. After all who wants to lose to the Worst Team in the Premiership / Premier League History??

OK its angered Jewell but every Reading player knows that if they can't beat a team with 1 win all season and only 11 points then they do deserve to be relegated - FACT.

If Derby get a win against us on Sunday (and therefore 21% of all there points this season) it will be alongside one of the worst Reading performances and results in recent years.

Exactly. Likes the sound of his own voice far too much and I have a feeling he likes seeing his name in the papers.

Imagine if Coppell left and this clown applied for the job

Dillon's comments will have little to no effect on the game bar giving people a stick to beat him with.

It is a fact that Derby are the worst team to play at this level and haven't won a game since October and then only one all season.

They will be up for this game not because of these comments but because it is their last home game and they will want to go out on a high to give their long suffering fans hope for next season. It is this that and our own situation that will make this game tough.

And can anybody really disagree that if we do fail to beat Derby in this particular fixture then we deserve all we get?

If Derby haven't managed to get themselves up for a game all year then, i doubt Dillons comments will have had much effect on them. They can see the table and are well aware of how shite they are.

I like Paul Jewell as a manager but hopefully, after Sundays game, there won't be any need for Steve Coppell to be asking him for anything and he stick his Championship crap match re-runs up his fat Scouse arse.

dissin' Derby. 'innit? Stating the obvious but bound to rile ala Martin Jol. Wonder if they'll now beat us 3-1?

I think these comments will fire up Derby more than Us. I mean if anything he is adding pressure to our team to get a result when maybe what we need is to play without any.

Derby will be more up for it especially looking at our recent performances, we aint been up for a game of football for a long time. Lets not forget they can actually score a goal and did so TWICE against ARSENAL.

Matt Le Tissier says the same thing as Dilldo

Who is going down with Derby?
BIRMINGHAM AND FULHAM - Birmingham have got a home game against a team who aren't playing for much and I expect them to nick a win and be relying on results elsewhere. I also believe it will be too tough for Fulham to go and win at Portsmouth and I can see them getting a draw which won't be enough if the other two sides win. Having watched Derby several times this season, Reading will deserve to go down if they can't win at Pride Park. Reading's strikers have been poor but I think they'll get a tense 1-0 win and they'll be the ones to stay up.

Stranded Dillon's comments will have little to no effect on the game

Remember Martin Jol's comments last season? They absolutely had an effect on the game, and that article was posted in the Reading dressing room before the game too.

Stupid isn't the word for it. Derby suddenly have a reason to be fired up for the last game of a season they just want to forget. The words and actions of the management team/chairman over the last few weeks have me thinking that they actually want to get relegated. I'm fully expecting a defensive line-up against Derby just to show what our true ambitions are - no Matejovsky, Bikey in midfield. In a game we have to win I can't see us getting anything out of now. Being turned over by Derby would be the final humiliation.

They have already said that Matejovsky will probably start.

Personally I think Paul Jewell is just throwing his toys out his pram and comments like these are made throughout the season. OK so the timing is poor but it will have little effect on the pitch on Sunday.

Given that in the past, we have used similar comments to motivate our team, I can't see how we Reading fans can be so sure they won't motivate another.
