Dillon's comments will have little to no effect on the game

Remember Martin Jol's comments last season? They absolutely had an effect on the game, and that article was posted in the Reading dressing room before the game too.

Stupid isn't the word for it. Derby suddenly have a reason to be fired up for the last game of a season they just want to forget. The words and actions of the management team/chairman over the last few weeks have me thinking that they actually want to get relegated. I'm fully expecting a defensive line-up against Derby just to show what our true ambitions are - no Matejovsky, Bikey in midfield. In a game we have to win I can't see us getting anything out of now. Being turned over by Derby would be the final humiliation.

Derby already had a reason to be fired up for this game as I pointed out in the part of my post you chose not to quote...hence why these comments will have no affect on the game but, again, just give people a stick to hit Dillon with both pre-game and post should we lose.

From that point of view they were ill-advised comments.

Oh and Matjeovsky is starting on Sunday according to Coppell.

As alluded to here and known by many, this can only be seen as karma for the comments made by John Gregory about us when manager of...Derby County, of course...after one of their previous relegations to the Championship. They met us on the first day of the new season and he said words to the effect of you know you've dropped your standards when you find yourself playing the likes of Reading.

Wouldn't people have slated Dillon even more if he'd come out and said we would have a tough time beating Derby and he wouldn't be surprised if they dragged us down with them? Fickle football fans.

Dillon's comments are symptomatic of the mess the club have been in this season.

Rather than firing up the opposition, who didn't really have that much to play for , other than their fans, before he opened his gob, he should have been focusing his efforts on getting his own team in the right frame of mind. It would be nice to see some real fire in their bellies!

They are more than capable of comfortably beating Reading on Sunday and it disturbs me that loads of people seem to think RFC will win or draw this.

Fully in agreement. We have no right to win this game and from recent perormances we should not expect Reading to. If we'd played all season like the last 2-3 months, we'd be below Derby with even fewer points.
