Alan Partridge
loyalroyal4life I think we should look to get jamie ashdown in next season. He is the type of player we need playing in our team. Reading through and through!!

So through and through he walked out to be Pompey's number 2?

I don't doubt that he has a strong bond towards RFC, having been a fan and also coming through the youth ranks, I too would seriously love to see him back here simply because he's a very good goalkeeper, but don't get fooled that any players are 'through and through' at a club.

I know what you are saying AP but he must of walked on basis of being told he had limited opportunity at Reading wheread pompey must of told him otherwise.

Anyway you have to admit he would be an ideal option compared to our current choices!!

I think there is every chance of Ashdown coming back to Reading and soon. Hanhemann has indicated he may go back to the US. Even if he stays its unlikely to be for more than one season.Federici is treading water and Ashdown is barring injuries always on the bench.
He looked a cracking prospect three years ago and is still young for a keeper. Whatever happens to us this season I would like to see the club sign him.

Alan Partridge Southampton >>>> Portsmouth

Not that I want to stick up for them, but in what way? I can only think of one whereas pompy are better in every other dept. Even the new ground is only recent, before that pompy had much bigger ground and better crowds. Are you a closet southampton fan - even southampton fans admit they are a smaller club

Pompey's ground is atrocious, their fans are the biggest bunch of pikey cnuters in the world, their manager is a crook, they are not a bigger club than Southampton. Saints support despite their crapness rarely goes below 18-20,000, Pompey don't sell out home games. Oh and we never get a decent result against them.

I am not in any way a closet Southampton fan, but they are much better and far more harmless club supported by fairly decent folk (on my experience) with hardly any delusions of grandeur, apart from Nigel Quashie.

Mate you really dont know what you are talking about. Their ground is bad but its their orginal one. You should not compare with new stadia. You should compare with like for like ie. Fratton Park >>>> The Dell. Attendances are boosted by 50% on ave for a new stadium. Seriuosly I know we dont like them but to say they are not bigger than saints is making you look like you dont know what your talking about.

We weren't prepared to offer him a decent contract last time (despite the fact he was quickly able to get a very good one elsewhere so clearly had a higher market value than we were prepared to acknowledge) so how likely is it that we will do so if JM goes into one of his infamous 'cutback' modes?!

Don't worry about Pompey's commitment. I had a word with Arry yesterday and he said a monkey would secure a favourable performance. Pompey are easily the biggest club in Hampshire and obviously of utmost integrity.

Is the monkey looking for a job after tomorrow?!

Should easily fit within our existing wages structure and might even find what we pay extremely attractive.

If anyone is looking for something to cheer them up this weekend:
