floyd__streete Can I be the first to say

SANCHEZ OUT

Agreed. And add to him Parky, Mad Dog and any other stupid name that people on here will throw into the mix just because they had some link with Reading in a past life. We want a truely brilliant manager to try and take Copps' place and the only man I can think of at this precise moment is Sven.

PEARCEY
AthleticoSpizz There is no "please" about it.

(what is his contract status?)

One year left Athletico

Regardless of the terms of his contract, I truly believe that the man has earnt the right to make his own decision as to where his future lies. I really want him to decide to stay at Reading, and not be 'forced' into it by his contract.

Please stay.

Yes I agree with the sentiments. I cannot think of a better manager to get us back in the PL than SSC.

Please stay.

If not I fear we may end up seeing league 1 before we see the PL again.

To Steve Coppell: obviously you won't be reading this, but if you are then I think every Reading fan would thank you for 5 great years, playing stylish football in the right spirit, and giving us all many reasons to be proud of the club, and would hope that you stay and build another team in the same way. Even if you leave then thanks for the memories and good luck.

Having got back from the Derby game there weren't many there who turned against SC.

Never mind Hob Nob, if you want him to stay deluge the club's web site.

Agreed, I would love Steve to stay.

It's really quite sad that there are thousands of fans who will be calling for him to leave because we finished in the bottom half, and after our first season, anything below 8th was poor.

Reading FC can learn and grow from this experience with YOU SSC

I have a feeling SSC may offer his resignation in a selfless gesture, but I implore JM to not accept it.
If we lose SSC now, we may well go the way of so many other one or two season flash-in-the pan teams floundering around searching for a decent manager.
Sir Steve, you must stay and continue building our club.

Still proud to be a Royal.

I agree totally and a new manager would have to set about building a team to suit his style and that would take a minimum of two seasons. Steve can work with the core of his current team even if we do lose a few players.

Some of you are missing the point. SSC will be going because he recognises that the team needs refrshing and the deadwood clearing out - and that these re the things that he can't do because of the relationship he has with his players.

So he knows that the only way we can move on and ounce back is without him.

Tragic as it is, the Coppell-Era (Reading FC's greatest ever) ends today.

Yep, that was exactly what he implied on Thursday. I'd be surprised if Coppell didn't leave as early as tomorrow. Sad but seems that's the way it's going to be.

I'll sign on to this, and (ignoring for the moment the absurdity of the idea that Steve's reading this) you know it's a good job, mate.

Agreed

He had 38 games to refresh this team but his selection today showed how little we've progressed this season.

He was given money but chose not to spend most of it, prefering to stick with his chosen few, who failed us week after week.

Thanks for 2 wonderful seasons, Steve, but it's time to fall on that sword.
