Do we have a list of where players are up to in their contracts?

If we struggled to attract quality players to Reading when we were in the Premiership - what hope do we have in the Championship, I agree with Shards, a new manager will probably sweep clean so this thread has to be based on Coppell staying and not Dolan being manager :D

What a thouroughly pointless thread. We don't know who's going to be in charge, who leaves, who comes in or how money there'll be.

Really its just a list of the current crop who were too crap last season to get bought by anyone

The best one I know of is The Cube's site:

Aside from Hunt and Doyle do Reading have premiership class?

by smurfsdabomb » 12 May 2008 17:57

Marcus Han maybe, Sidwell and Seol certainly were last season too.

Once they lose Hunt and Doyle they'll just be an average championship side again too, I think they really need to invest or they wont be getting back up anytime soon.

Message for Kevin Doyle.

Martin O'Neill is only interested in you as a squad player.
Remember what happened to Steve Sidwell at Chelsea.

Easy

Marcus
Murty Sonko Ivar Shorey
Little Harper Sidwell Convey
(any 2 from) Kitson Doyle Lita

Only one summer purchase necessary, guaranteed to run away with the title

I echo the sentiments posted earlier. If Coppell goes then a 1 year 'bounceback' plan turns into a 2/3/4 year squad re-build!
So staring XI i reckon...

USA
Rosenior, Bikey, Sonko, a new LB (yet to be purchased)
A new RW (yet to be purchased), Marek, Harps, a new LW (yet to be purchased)
Any 2 from Kits, Doyle, Lita & Long

I don't think we're in danger of losing anyone, who wants strikers that can't score enough and defenders that concede too much!
Hunt may well go - ok we'll miss the workrate but anyone seen him cross a ball? (may result in lack of goals for strikers!) Shorey......well i don't think he'll be a hammer this time next year but he can Oxf*rd off if he thinks he's bigger than the club! I doubt anyone will take a punt, unless he fancies playing another year in the prem and then getting relegated again with any of the teams that have gone up!
I know there is no Little in that XI but for me he's just not fit enough for the rigours of the prem even if his delivery is nigh on perfect
Again no Convey, just too lighweight for the prem and when did he last beat a man an deliver a cross?? Ask Kits he'll tell you..........a long time!

This may all sound a bit cynical but we must learn from this year and that means we need to assemble a premiership worthy team for the single season in the fizzy pop league otherwise we're just delaying the fact that we'll have wholesale changes the year after. Get a team together early and let them gel and learn to play with each other so we make sure we're there to stay next summer.

Ideal
Platypuss I am convinced you lot are taking the piss.

is it really too hard to check if the same topic is not already being discussed elsewhere?

Apparently so. How come you're not locking/merging/deleting some of these threads?

Yeah, why didn't I think of that.

At least 2 posters have included Sonko.
First of all the fall-out with the club may be irreparable but even more importantly the player looks as though he has lost it following the serious injury.
He is no great footballer but his pace got him and the rest of our defence out of trouble on so many occasions that he became invaluable.
That pace seems to have gone and without it IMHO he is not even a Championship player.
I don't expect him to feature for us in the future but if there is a remarkable transformation and he recaptures that pace then as the club so often says "it is like a new signing" and we would be delighted to have our old Sonko back.

Jeez Platypuss you sound like a very neurotic secondary school teacher I used to have. Talk about getting worked up about something trivial. OK I can feel my slapped wrists stinging (lock me up for life with murderers, rapists and paedophiles for this - repeating a thread). This thread has obviously upset you. To which I can only say, get a life.

I wouldn't expect you to notice, but do you not think it's a tad rich for some to complain about threads not being merged/deleted without bothering to check that that hasn't already happened?
