STAR Campaigns It was specifically asked that what Sir Steve said last night isn't posted or released until after Sunday in case any journo gets hold of any bits and misinterprets them. For anyone who was there, just a reminder to please respect this.

Suffice to say that he Sir Steve was his usual honest and loquacious self - and it must be about the only occasion in football history when the manager of a team facing imminent relegation gets a unanimous standing ovation when he meets the fans.

Quite agreed JK, was an enjoyable and extremely interesting and revealing discussion.

Yes I was there and the honesty shone through - no cliches, passing the buck or glib answers.

However, the real killer for me, the absolutely gobsmacking unbelievable heartstopping moment was when (item deleted)

Why should I have to wait? I'm a STAR member, I pay my fee and couldn't make last night through work commitments. Hopefully DG will drop me a PM

Is there going to be a full write up?

More than happy to wait but if someone wants to drop me a cheeky PM, then I shan't complain.

Wouldn't do for the media to get hold of words from our management team and for Paul Jewell to use that against us would it!

I feel sure that they will when they get back from the game, and have time to write it up.

Yeah, can someone please update on this?

Sounds like it was Coppell announcing his likely departure.

A great pity. Maybe he could move upstairs to DOF and we can find some other position for Hammond.

no he didn't, he gave us an idea of the decision process but said he would take a few days after the Derby game to cool off before making his decision. So unless they think he was lying anyone saying he is going is making assumptions. He equally didn't say he would stay, he paid us the compliment of telling he didn't know.

TBH it needs the note taker to get is notes out as now it is several days away it is hard to remember all the details. One thing in particular was that he thought the defence was going to determine where we finished but he never contemplaed that our 4 strikers would find it so hard to score in the second half of the season. He admitted mistakes and said that he had money to spend but that he could not see players out there that were available and were better than what he had and he felt it would take an enormous amount to take us to the next level.

Despite our position in the league he was given a standing ovation and I felt we did what we could to support him and let him know that he was appreciated and that we want him to stay whichever division we are in

good

to be fair he sorted the defence out pretty well, our goal difference seemed better second half of the season despite losing more matches.
just failed to predict and correct the creativity issue-and that just stemmed from the pressure more than anything i think
maybe some of the players were expecting new blood in jan, and not getting it really rattled them

To be even fairer, no way could he have predicted the disgusting performances the players gave at home to Bolton and Fulham, ergo its the player's fault not SC...

Really interested in reading this.

Was there one earlier in the season? Around when Kitson's drinking thing kicked off.

It stemmed from the pressure and the fact that we didn't have a half decent rigth winger for the whole season!

The lack of a decent central midfielder to replace Sidwell didn't help either, although Matejovsky came in and did ok, his partnership with Harper wasn't ever going to be strong enough to fight for posession and the odd valuable point away from home.

It wasn't totally unpredictable, and I'm impressed with the way Coppell has held his hands up and admitted his errors.

I'd have been more impressed if he'd done it during one of the transfer windows though.

I'd love to see the notes. I always used to enjoy the forums but since I refuse to join STAR these days I've had to give them up.
