"Tommy Burns' magic, he wears his magic mac, and when he saw the championship, he said I'm having that"

I think that's correct and it was the first time I heard that song. As has been said didn't do a great job for us, but was always very friendly to fans, taking time to talk to them like he did with my family at a friendly at Woking. Reminds us all that football is just a game. RIP Tommy

Its very sad for anyone to die at 51 - only a few years younger than my Dad is now.
You just don't expect it to happen and hope it won't happen to you.
I remember buying the programme with Tommy's picure on for the first game of the Burns era - as we know things didnt quite work out but thats the way it goes sometimes. Some things are more important than football.

cmonurz Perhaps they are just slow updating, but have to say it is surprising that there is nothing on this on the official site.

I was there at Elm Park "Tommy Burns' magic, he wears his magic mac, and when he saw the championship, he said I'm having that"

I think that's correct and it was the first time I heard that song. As has been said didn't do a great job for us, but was always very friendly to fans, taking time to talk to them like he did with my family at a friendly at Woking. Reminds us all that football is just a game. RIP Tommy

We didn't go up until Pardew was manager, only went down with TB2. And it wasn't called the Championship then anyway.

Had forgotten he gave us Forster as well, thanks for that too then TB2. Whilst struggling at our club he always conducted himself well and was a gentleman. Never forget the mac on the sidelines...

RIP Tommy, thanks for 'some' great memories. A manger at the club during a transitional period - at any other time things may have worked out better for him here.

F*cking disgraceful how people decide to throw in their negative views about him at a time like this.

A top bloke, an awesome manager, a legend to many. Unlucky in his time at Reading. Had the balls to try to change things for us.

Shocking news, my heart goes out to his family.

And my thanks to him for managing my club.

Always sad to hear news especially at such a relatively young age. (Depending on your own, obviously!!)

Was a legend at Celtic / Scottish football and well respeceted in football all round.

Of course he will always be part of the RFC History, whichever way you look at it.

RIP
