Was unfortunate it didn't work out at Reading FC, but a very sad loss to football.

RIP Tommy Burns

This puts our relegation into context. It's a sad day for football.

2 world wars, 1 world cup F*cking disgraceful how people decide to throw in their negative views about him at a time like this.

A top bloke, an awesome manager, a legend to many. Unlucky in his time at Reading. Had the balls to try to change things for us.

Shocking news, my heart goes out to his family.

And my thanks to him for managing my club.

Couldn't agree more. Unbelievably poor postings on here from ANYONE who has said "RIP, but..." in any way that relates to his time here.
He managed OUR club - YOUR club - through a transitional period. He may not have won anything whilst with us, but for those of you with extremely narrow-minded and grudge-filled views of the man, he was part of our overall growth, whether you like it or not...and if you don't, then say nothing at the moment. Have some respect.

RIP Tommy Burns and condolences to your family.

Tommy Burns wasn't a success at Reading, but there was something about him that made me want to see him bounce back and do well.

RIP.

Regardless how he did at the club it's a sad day when someone dies. He'll be more missed elsewhere I'm sure but my sympathies to the family.

He did bring in a few decent players.

RIP.

Hated him playing for Tims, especially when he scored the dodgiest of "homer" penalties in cup semi against the Dons.

Know he's scored many cracking goals over his career, but remember when he played and scored 20-30 yarder for Reading in a testamonial I'm sure was one of, if not very last game at EP.

RIP Tommy Burns. :(

Genuinely devastated by that news. My deepest condolences to his family. I am the same age as Tommy and I survived a skin cancer scare 18 months ago and surgery saved my life.

I would urge everyone to have their skin checked by their doctor twice a year. Once malignant melanomas reach a certain depth they spread exponentially and that is it.

RIP Tommy.

Rawlie19 Shockingly bad Reading manager, but still sad to see him go. Thanks for Murty though. Shocked to hear the news this morning. RIP, condolences to his family.

totally agree...one of the worst managers for Reading, but his record was good elsewhere...and he did give us Murty and Forster - so two good signings...but what shocked me was he died so 'young'...only 51.

good piece of advice as unlike most cancers it can be diganosed more easily and its easier to prevent the spread if caught early.....i dont sunbathe much to limit my risk (though this is only one of many causes) but mainly cause its boring...lol!
