I didn't think it was possible for me to think Jamie Butler was more of a tw@t than I already did, but waddayaknow.

he is indeed an uber pcunter.

I presume the age 18 was actually a misprint and really it's his IQ

Royal Lady Give it up Kes, no-one cares what you think - you're not even a Reading supporter. As for that other idiot - and his sidekicks - I couldn't give a flying one.

The other idiots are in Steve Coppells space.

Coppell is determined to lead Reading back into the Barclays Premier League at the first attempt and believes the current squad are good enough to do it.

mmm. not sure about that.

but good news if true he's staying - after all he's mr integrity and has 1 year left on a contract.

Daily Mail/
Coppell resigned in the wake of Crystal Palace's drop from the Premier League in 1993 and the team returned to the top flight at the first attempt.

He referred to this at the Fan's Forum last week. He was careful not to take the credit for the quick improvement. Palace bounced back as champions at the first attempt under Alan Smith.

Coppell said that Smith made changes to the team that he wouldn't have been able to make because he was too close, too attached to "his" players. Smith was more remote and able to act with less emotion.

This revelation convinced me the same was due to occur here, because he came up with this story when he was being questioned about his rigid loyalty to some of he squad.

This is great news. It's also good when you can spend a long time preparing for your next manager and looking into candidates instead of having to make a rushed, panic decision.

You're probably thinking of when he said the same squad could survive in the Premiership, and of course they did and came 8th.

The EP, talking about Jamie Butler, The lad, who grew up a stone’s throw from Elm Park

WTF has that got to do with Coppell staying or going? - anyway ButLOLer would have been too young to go to Elm Park

8 years old (max) at the time of the Norwich game

Why is anyone even reading the Daily Mail, let alone believing it?

but it is understood he will still quit at the end of the next campaign even if he manages to mastermind a Premier League return.
don't think he would do that, and why would he do that?

I hope to hell he doesnt announce he is staying just to see out his contract / will leave at the end of the season- we have all seen what happens when managers do that, and they rarly finish their tenure. I would much prefer if publicly he leaves things more open ended - ie if we go up he will stay and see it through.

The last thing we want is a dead man walking. Preparing for a manager suddenly not being there and having some idea of where you want to go next is good. Having a manager who the club and the players know is leaving at the end of the season is a disaster waiting to happen.

Look what happened to United and Newcastle, and Spurs this season I guess, to see the effect it has when players know the manager is on his way soon.

If that is the case, and he's going to go in 12 months time we should make sure he goes now.
