FiNeRaIn ROFLeading fans, one of the worst in england.

It seems to me that the support given to the team and the management over the last few months has been better than most teams heading for and then "achieving" relegation might expect.

There are a few numbnuts out there but surely no more than any other club has?

Jerry St Clair
Irvinchangeyaname Of course, Derby! That was the game where Oster was busting a gut for the team and got jeered, yet Hunt appeared inept and disinterested for 90 minutes and nobody said a word?

Arguing the toss about the relative merits of Oster and Hunt is a bit like trying to decide whether you'd prefer Syphilis or Chlamydia.

I'm not familiar with those two - do they play for a Spanish side?

Great news, we need to rebuild and ship out the dead wood that was responsible for a season full of pathetic inept displays.

Next to go must be Coppell, the biggest dead wood at the club.

papereyes I do wonder why he didn't play much this season.

And i do wonder why oster played so many games

Because after playing 11 players at right wing, he was the best of a truly bad bunch as we decided to sell our only true right winger and not bring in anyone to replace him.

An absolutely astounding decision on the part of the club, that.

Wax Jacket in years to come (and probably this week too) Halls will be seen as one of our worst ever signings, espeically bearing in mind the level we operated during his time here.

hardly ever played a game, couldn't get games on loan, stuck around for 3 years. terrible.

Always thought we could have done so much better then - we should have looked for the right back that edged Murty aside this season all the way back in January 2006.

However it is a decision that has been answered many times, Little was expected to be fit, and Coppell thoought we could cope till he did. Seol wanted away, has been recorded many a time.

So they called it wrong and we went out and bought a suitable replacement in January.

Except we didn't, did we?

Even more astounding.

Can I just say i'm actually gutted that DLC is going.

I was looking forward to him getting a long run in the team. I can't really remember him ever having a bad game. Excellent professional and all round good egg

Good move for John - fair play to the club for letting him go somewhere else for a new start - somewhere where he'll start with clean slate. He's been vilified by many - primarily, I suspect, for not being Glen Little.

The only problem is that people will need to find a new scapegoat.

I think they'll pick the player who plays the worst over an extended period of time, myself.

Royal Rother Ivar, Sodje and Bennett to go - poss Sonko as well.

2 from Bikey, Cisse, Duberry and Pearce would be fine with me. No need for more than 4 Central Defenders in the CCC surely?

I think that would leave us at least 1 short for the squad, especially as Cisse isn't proven (and didn't look too comfortable there for me) and Bikey, despite his good form, is an inconsistent defender (he has moments of genius followed by some quite frankly park quality defending).

I can't see us bringing in another centre back but we'll try our hardest to get rid of Sodje and Bennett to leave us with Ivar, Bikey, Dubbery, Sonko and Pearce plus Cisse for emergencies (unless we can get rid of him too).

FiNeRaIn Thanks for the memories john. Much like marek he was one of the most technical players in the squad. You could tell he'd been given a premiership education and it showed. The problem with oster in the side is that we have championship mentality players who were never in the position they should be, thats why a lot of balls went to waste and john was singled out.
Oster's ball against blackburn last year which bentley scored from stood out for me. Shorey should of been 5 yards further forward and we would of had a decent attack, instead he was way off play stood diddling his thumbs and the ball went to bentley. Premiership players move into space and a lot of the times balls are played into an area where people SHOULD be running, reading players never made that movement and thats why we never had large periods of possession in the prem or couldn't string more than 5 passes together.
Oster played a lot of under-rated balls like that and its a shame our players didn't have the mentality or awareness to find space and make better runs. One of the genuine " football" players we've had in recent times.
Take care john.

Yep, Oster had a great "premiership education" at Grimsby!!!

He might've spent a couple of years at Everton, playing a bit part in Everton's worse period in the last 25 years and just missing out on relegation by virtue of goal difference, but he's by no means ever established himself as a top flight player. Even during his time at Sunderland he only played about 20 games in the Premiership and only 48 starts in 4 and a half seasons.

Oster flattered to deceive. He has a lot of ability but he just hasn't been able to harness it and he's just not been good enough at Reading or any of his previous clubs, bar Grimsby as a 17 year old, to hold down a regular first team place.

A matter of opinion i suppose but history would suggest thats not usually the case.

There was absolutely no reasonable expectation that Little was going to be fit. At the time the summer window slammed shut he had been injured and not responding in any way to treatment for months. There was more chance of Elvis riding into the Mad Stad on Shergar than Little appearing in a game on the pitch before 2008!

"You've always done your best & stuck to your word"

Was JM stopping Coppell from seeing that there was no reasonable expectation of Little being fit or are you admitting that it's not all Madejski's fault?

Rosenior would of done a better job than oster at right wing
