More players released by other clubs

Everton boss David Moyes has brought his list of players released by the club to a dozen.

Following the decisions last week not to extend Thomas Gravesen's loan spell with goalkeeper Stefan Wessels given a free transfer, another batch of players will now leave Goodison Park.

Defender Anthony Gardner, who has not played a first-team match since his January loan from Spurs, will return to the north London club.

Also departing is Icelandic youngster Bjarni Vidarsson, who has spent the last five months on loan to FC Twente in Holland. He made one first-team appearance this season in the UEFA Cup tie against AZ Alkmaar.

Also released is defender Patrick Boyle, who has been on loan at Crewe.

A group of youngsters have also not been offered new terms. They are Shaun Densmore, Steven Morrison, James Hall, Ryan Harpur, Aidan Downes, Stephen Connor and James Jones.

David Moyes has confirmed Lee Carsley will depart Goodison this summer - and has hailed the midfielder for his services to Everton.

The experienced Republic of Ireland international leaves Everton today, having opted not to renew his deal with the Blues in order to move to a club closer to his Midlands home and his family.

It has been a difficult decision for Carsley, and one that the manager understands.

Are we nearer to Brum than Everton?

Carsley would be an excellent signing. Just the type of player we needed last season.

I'd rather him or Gravesen than Campo, who I wouldn't be too disappointed with, as they've got that little bit more bite to them.

summer signings

by muzza » 19 May 2008 19:24

Everyone is talking about the people that could be leaving and no-one is really starting to speculate on who might be arriving in the summer.

Who do you think could arrive?? who do you think should arrive?? who do you think will arrive??

leave your thoughts and lets see how active RFC are this summer.

£25k per week for 2 years - that is what he has signed at Birmingham. I wouldn't want a 34 year old hear on those terms.

Have to agree with that!!!

If we hadn't gone down then yes maybe, but even so, a two year contract...it's no wonder he wanted to leave Everton for that kind of contract.

Assuming Mr C stays and we don't lose too many players, other than those released, I would not expect a lot of activity.

He has already said that he thought the squad was too big last season and he should have signed quality instead of quantity but the problem will be getting quality players to come to a championship side who will not throw money at people. If we can offload a few of the contracted "squad" players we could see 2 or 3 arrive but who is anyone's guess.

We didn't spend money in the Premiership, so we won't in the Championship.

Expect a summer of watching our better players depart and other clubs picking up players we would like, much to the fristration of the fans., and then a few rucsed cheap and cheerful signings by the club

We will probably sing 1 player for a bit of money (£700K-£1mllion) and then take adavatage of players out of contract at other clubs. Our low transfer spend will be justified becuase of the cost of our relagtion, but the club will also say how these free transfer demonstarte our ambition. The money from the players we sell will dissapear without trace into the clubs coffers.

Thats the way it has always been with Reading...can't see it changing now

A lot of people at Palace believe Morrison is on his way to you guys, He has rejected a new 2 year deal after Warnock told him he may not be "1st choice" next season.

Would Coppell give him that guarantee?? I can't see it!

He might guarantee him to be first choice in the reserves - very prestiguous; think he'd be taking the place of some of our most expensive signings ever! The mighty Fae was a Reserve team regular and not long ago our Reserves won the Premiership Reserve title ... oh those heady days of triumph!

Lee Cook is a great shout as a replacement for Hunt.

I would be very happy with that tbh.

Kebe should shine in the Championship. I hear he has been good in training and we have not let Oster go without backup. Blakey and Kebe should keep the right wing lively.

I commute from MK to Hogwood Lane - so it's definitely possible.

Won't happen though.
