Short memories kids....

Sonko has had a poor few months after returning from an injury that used to mean your career was over. Yes he was pretty poor in the games he played last season but he's shown previously he has the qualities to be a decent Premiership centre back.

£2-£3m would be a fair price, and probably one we'd accept.

There will be interest in him though because he was pretty awesome for at least 18 months and thats what managers will remember and take into account. They won't write him off after a poor spell coming back from a very serious injury.

For me i think the issue is whether his relationship with Coppell is damaged beyond repair and if he's likely to return to anything approaching his best following his injury. My guess (and thats all it is) is that the mere fact that Duberry has been offered a year deal suggests the club aren't planning on keeping Sonko around.

If all the above is true then getting 2m and removing one of our highest earners from the wage bill would be an excellent deal for us.

I will be very sorry to see him go. I know he was very poor last season, but I'm sure he can get back to his best. The quotes attributed to him since he was suspended show to me that he realised he made a mistake and wants to repair the relationship - unlike Fae. What we don't know, though, is what Coppell & the rest of the coaching staff think of him now. They could think that he's not worth the gamble on recovering his form and attitude...

Hope its true. Anyone refusing to turn out for the reserves is not fit to wear the hoops.

I have one little playing issue with Sonko. At his best, he made mistakes but had the physical attributes to make up for them. I don't think he has them now. Maybe it will come back but without a sense of timing and judgement, all we've got is a bit of a liability.

Please be true we can get a decent centre back for that or even just use bikey there and get a midfield player in

Am I the only one who thought that Sonko was being shown up before his injury too? I can remember quite a few penalties he gave away and he was always doing amazing last ditch tackles, which sounds good but they were occurring far too often. If we can get the £2-3m mentioned then I think we should definitely take it. Especially when you consider that we already have Ivar, Dubes, Bikey (if he stays), Cisse and Pearce. That list doesn't even mention Sodje who at Championship level is a decent defender and at the moment probably isn't far off Sonko.

Daniel Gabbidon is available for transfer...

Maybe use sonko money to buy him...or if Shorey goes there make it a player exchange plus a bit of cash.

interesting.... i rate gabbidon and he'd be a very strong centre back in the championship. Having got rid of brown we still have bennett, sodje, ivar, bikey, duberry, sonko, pearce and even cisse so thats eight cb's far too many.If the moneys right i think we would reluctantly let sonko go and i also think bennett and sodje would find it tough to get in amongst the CB pairings so we should probably let them go.That would mean having ivar, bikey, duberry, pearce and the potential for an extra signing to make 5 although even then you have 3 cb's not on the team sheet every week.

That's not the Reading way.

Sell Sonko, don't replace him.

To be honest sounds like bad journalism to me though.

Got Pearce coming in who was excellent in the Championship last season according to Roeder, if Sonko goes I really can't see us buying a replacement with Doobs, Ingi, Bikey and Cisse all filling the same spot.

I think that sums it up pretty well.

Agreed also. A bit like Primus in his early days here, and Bikey also. They all make mistakes and get caught out at times but Sonko had that spell where he got away with everything. I guess it depends if you see him and coming back like Primus to be a better player in time, or if he goes the way of John Mackie and we've just seen the best 18 months of form he's ever going to produce.

Actually, there's a kebab van parks at the end of the road. I'm a bit worried as they keep eyeing the dog up when he's off-lead
