Jerry St ClairHuntley & Palmer It does make me LOL @ how bitter RFC fans are when a player decides to go on and further their career. Whatever is said about Shorey and Sidwell about their contract situations etc, both of them will end up in the Premiership playing for clubs with far more ambition than us.
What are West Ham's ambitions for next season? Survival?
So, er, exactly the same as ours would be in the Prem.
It's about money. End of.

Ian Royal Neither did he come out and salute the fans at the end of the season at Derby, despite most of the rest of the team doing so.

Then again most of the team weren't booed when they took a corner in an important game the week before - why would he want to acknowledge the fans after all he's given to the club if that's the thanks he gets? I think he'd have been perfectly within his rights to stick two fingers up after the Derby game to idiots like yourself who don't recognise quality players when they see them and instead blindly applaud dross like Stephen Hunt and James Harper.

Royalee Because he is insulting one of the best players ever to pull on a Reading shirt, along with my intelligence with every word he contributes.

The only person I'm insulting is you. And thats because you have the intellect and charm of a baboon's arse.
It's laughable the way you acuse me of insulting one of our best ever players, when I frequently acknowledge how good he has been for us over the years, but give an honest assessment of his attitude and performance this season. When you bad mouth two players constantly who have been two of our better performers over 2 seasons in the premiership and also go down as reading greats/legends.
So who's the bigger fool there. I'll give you a clue, it isn't me.

statto "All i saw from Shorey last season...was him getting stuffed for pace by utaka".
So a player, well known for being very quick, being much faster than him means he wasn't putting in any effort.
Good logic.

Ian Royal I didn't grudge Sidwell going. But then Sidwell put one of his best seasons for us whilst running down his contract.

I agree, but you would never have known it by reading this forum a year or so ago.
I'll always remember the photograph in here of Shorey (who was the blue eyed boy at the time) together with Sidwell at Shorey's wedding. Sidwell was in the wedding party and people were posting stuff like 'Nicky you need to find better mates!'...'Sidwell is a a disruption in training and a cancer in the dressing room'...'Sidwell has a bad attitude, he just doesn't care or even try in games anymore'...'Sidwell should follow Shorey's example, be loyal to the club and not be a, well, greedy bollox'...and so on.
Yet here we are a year later, and we're talking up Sids, while Shorey is the villain. Oh, what a tangled web we weave...

Ian Royal I am also quite capable of noticing the good stuff players do in the background. Which is why I'm a big fan of Harper. Though I'd like him more if he stopped thinking he was a defensive midfielder and attacked more. Crab Harper is good. Attacking Harper is great.

He is asked to play as "crab Harper" by the management though isn't he?

rhroyal The thing Hammond said saying "Shorey has been unhappy for a year now" really got to me. I can understand if Shorey would have liked to play for West Ham, but once the window closes it hasn't worked out. Therefore he should have just put his head down and played his best for the club paying his wages. If that wasn't enough, he should have just thought about where his career would be if we hadn't signed him from the Leyton Orient reserves and given him a chance. He seems to have thrown that back in our face this season. It's a typical small club thing, you give a player or manager a chance and when they hear rumours of getting to a bigger club they forget your loyalty and piss off without considering what you've done for them. Mark McGhee, Alan Pardew and now Nicky Shorey in my view. You could say Sidwell, but the difference there was when he knew he was staying until the end of this season he got his head down and put in the best year of his life for us.
