Whore Jackie Now that Hull have finally reached the Premier League, where's the largest city in Europe never to have had top-flight football?
Going with the UK and assuming it doesn't matter if you gained city status after your last time in the top-flight, that rules out Wolves. I don't believe Plymouth Argyle have gone any higher than their current level. Anyone know of a European (or indeed UK) city, bigger than Plymouth, smaller than Hull, that fits the criteria?

Good use of the quote function there.

From Despair To Where? A quick look at the last census data for Britain confirms that in England, it is Plymouth, followed by Dudley, then Bournemouth (which I do realise is not a city).

...and historically their team is historically far worse, and is currently at the equivalent of Ryman league level.papereyes Wiesbaden is actually bigger than Hull, by the way.

The census does not recognise the term 'city' (or 'town' or 'village').

The term "city" is fairly meaningless though, isn't it. I mean, St Davids is a city and it's got a population about one tenth that of Lower Earley.

Dirk Gently Enough of all that irrelevant nonsense - the most important trivia fact about Hull City still applies.
They're the only English league team where you can't colour in any of the letters in their name.

The Surgeon of Crowthorne Is it correct that Harrogate is the largest town/city not to have a football league club? I seem to remember that being the answer of a trivia quiz I did years ago.
