RUMOUR - Ferrie Bodde

by UpNorth » 24 May 2008 19:11

Yes I know he has a daft name but we are interested in him according to a Swans fan site.

One of the best defensive midfielders in League 1 apprarently. Known as the Dutch 'Roy Keane' he has created quite an impression since joining Swansea last year.

Derby have already had a bid of £500k rejected but may go back with more.

A tough tackler who was sent off twice last year he could be just the player to partner Matey boy assuming he is still with us at the start of the next season.

Sounds interesting, and as a midfielder, 33 appearances with 6 goals is pretty decent.
Although he is playing in League One...
Is it a gamble? Would Coppell sign him?
Questions, questions... :x

Would be surprised if Swansea would want to sell just as they've got promoted.....the right bid could make a difference I guess...

Age is key in whether we'd go for him I think. Young and developing and it's a good shout with potential. Anything over about 24-25 and I don't think he'd be worth the punt.

He is a good player and a player who could compliment Marek. He is 26 which is a good age for a midfielder. Would need to sort out aggression with out losing his tough tackling though..From wikipedia...
Bodde has been sent off twice this year. Once against Doncaster Rovers for a headbutt, the other against Leeds United for an alleged stamp.

Both would have carried 3 match bans and as Coppell like a small squad we can do without players missing 6 games (plus the two he gets sent off for) for stupidity.

Not much different to Bikey though TBF, and at least the headbutt was in a competitive game and not a friendly

Yeah, but Bikey had more pedigree when he came to us, and has shown himself to be very good. His silliness has occured outside competitive games for us on the most part.

Also I was referring to his age mostly. At 26 I don't think he's worth a punt when we've got several already we could be developing.

From ther Chronicle

If James Harper goes, possibly to Middlesbrough, The Chronicle understands that Reading will make an offer for Swansea City’s midfield playmaker Ferrie Bodde, who is has already been the subject of a failed £500,000 bid from Derby County.
