That would never happen, Whitehead is important to them and he wouldn't want to step down to us. He didn't even join us when we were in the Premiership and they were in the Championship, so now it's the other way round....

Move to Sunderland looks a real possibility...

Reading star Stephen Hunt's £5m move to Sunderland has hit a snag - after he refused to discuss his future before he gets married in his native Ireland on Friday... and then completes his honeymoon in mid-June. (Various)

If that is true I will kill him. We must sell hunt for 5m as soon as possible before people realise he's not very good...

Possible transfer ins & outs ...

by Royal Family » 30 May 2008 11:39

From various Sunderland & Fulham sites. Roy Keane has targeted Stephen Hunt & something should be concluded within the next few weeks. Should Hunt go then Coppell has been offered a direct replacement in Hameur Bouazza by Roy Hodgson at Fulham on a years loan with both clubs footing 50% of the players wages.

Hunt move to Sunderland apparently should be completed within a couple of weeks. As for replacements - Steve Coppell has been offered Hameur Bouazza by Roy Hodgson on a one year loan with Reading & Fulham splitting his wage bill.

More importantly, it could mean us missing out on replacements.

Is Stephen Hunt honestly worth 5 million pounds? What benchmark can we use here?

I like Hunt but for that money Sunderland can have him. Right now.

I'd be happy with that.

I think we can safely say Greg Halford is the benchmark in this instance.

I'll drive Hunty to Sunderland myself for a £5m transfer fee. I'll carry him if it's £3m and Dean Whitehead.

Sunderland's attempts to sign Reading winger Stephen Hunt might have hit troubled waters as Everton are interested in the Republic of Ireland international. (The Guardian)

If true it would be helpful to have two teams bidding in terms of pushing the price up that we receive

Is Hunt really good enough to play for a team in Europe. IMO he did not really help us in a bid for survival as I feel we were weak on both flanks not just the right!

Three years ago Moyes paid £3.5 for Philip Neville who is Stephen Hunt minus the speed. Adjusting the fee for inflation and pace, I calculate that £5m is probably fair.

God knows how much it would be if Hunt could also kick the ball really well.

Some of the performances towards the latter half of the season warranted questions about whether he is good enough to play for a relegation-fighting team so my answer would be no.

If he could kick the ball really well we'd have stayed up as he sweked sereral guilt edge chances either wide or high in games that cost us points towards the end of the season.
