Harsh. The Sun article gives no more indication of context or sources than any other rag passing this on (ahem... BBC). At the end, he says he will not ask for a transfer. The policy for all concerned should be that it's in the past, but if Sonko feels like the victim of a negative campaign I can certainly see why from reading this board. Whatever happened to loyalty. The guy had a bad year blighted by injury and then poor form (in which he was hardly alone at RFC). No no one has a good word to say for him. The definition of fickle.

He refused to play for the reserves at just the precise time that Coppell was calling for unity amongst the squad in the final 2 weeks of the season.

He then appeals this as is his right i suppsoe although even Fae didn't bother with that.

Just last week he goes on record as saying he's loyal he's staying but he's been treated unfairly by the club.

This week he goes on record as saying he's loyal, he wants to stay but now not only are the club treating him badly but he's the victim of a conspiracy amongst his teammates.

If he'd have let this go and knuckle down then i'd be inclined as i said at the time to give him another chance.

He quite clearly isn't prepared to do that and his public utterences are as near as you can get to asking for a move without actually slapping in a transfer request which could cost him money.

I'm with BQ , he wants out and is letting as many people as he can know it.

If he had said 'you black piece of shit' then yes, I would judge that as racist. The comment about him being nothing more than a 'big black athelete' is not in any way racist from my perspective. You are also the only person that has complained about it

Try looking at it a bit more carefully. Why the need to refer to the fact he is black at all?!! Would someone have said 'You're a big white athlete, nothing more' of a similarly built white footballer?

Strikes me that even if the writer claims there was no intent to be racist there's a pretty strong likelihood that it is going to be interpreted as such by more than a few people.
