I don't think it was us he was having a problem with. I get the impression that it was the other players in the team who were not happy with him and he wasn't happy about their grumpy attitude.

Wouldn't say 'you are a big white athlete, nothing more' - doesn't matter whether the poster is racist or not (probably isn't, just a stupid phrase), but using the phrase like that is at least insensitive and at worst could be considered racist. Even FineRain who I gather called someone a 'coon' under a previous username said 'I've been suspended and ridiculed for less than that'. Same with 'piece of shit'.

On the other hand of course there are times when using the word is acceptable, describing someone as 'black, brown eyes' etc. isn't racist and only a strange person would think it is. Why does this board always resort to extremes - someone complains about a stupid comment and someone else replies 'so you can never say black?'

Yes of course, but it needs to be used in a valid sense and add something positive to the sentence. You could easily remove the reference to Sonko's colour from that original post without impacting on the meaning of the comment - ergo it is unnecessary and racist to refer to his colour.

No, cant let that go by with out comment Jimmy. So by your estimation "typical" conservative voters are all rascist are they? If that really is a fact we have a huge number of racists, up to 40% of the population according to opinion polls.
