07-08 Seasn Highlights DVD

by Forbury Lion » 15 Jun 2008 13:49

Where is it?

I'm still pissed off we didn't have one for 04/05.

Incidentally, The 7-4 thrashing away to Pompey is now available on DVD entitled "Fortress Fratton Park", just £6.08 on Amazon.

Why on earth would they produce a highlights dvd for a season where the club got relegated and produced horrific losing streaks? Can't see many people willing to part with 20 quid for that.

The 02/03 season and 03/04 season reviews were still knocking around in the megastore for about a quid untill very recently, and both of those seasons, at the time, ranked as pretty successfull seasons with the club in/on the fringes of the play offs. The minimum orders that most suppliers require won't make it financially viable to produce a dvd given the clubs still relatively small group of hardcore/non-plastic fans, unless the club have done something pretty special that season. This was certainly not the case in the 04/05 season and last season.

Brentford produce DVDs even when they go down (in to L2 FFS), so why the hell can't we?

I have no idea, maybe they are prepared to sell a product they are ultimately going to make a loss on. They currently have the season 2005/2006 (where they finished 3rd in League 1) review DVD for sale still, going for £5 which is probably well below cost price. I struggle to see why they would have sold a a DVD for a season they got relegated if they can't sell out of a DVD where they did considerably better? Tiny things like this can contribute to making the difference between a well run and badly run football club.

If I had a video of last season, just burning it would be sufficient.

I'd like to see a DVD of the highs and lows of the last 20 years or so of Reading, it'd make up for some of those missing DVD/Videos we all would have bought in recent years and at last allow us to relive those moments v Wolves, the occasionally good cup performance, the depths of despair and the first season at the Mad Stad etc.

Considering how many paid to watch those games I reckon they could sell them. I certainly would like to remember the bad times as well as the good times. Stick a photo of Harper scoring against Liverpool on the cover and it will win over those only after the good times too.

Actually, the club should take orders for the DVD before the season starts, that way it will be a confirmed order book.

Any proper football club release season reviews EVERY season, regardless of how the team performs.

They should make something but I'd like to see the fans not buy the thing.

Send it to China with the last Robbie Williams CD

Apparantley the South Korean version will only cover the first half of the season and will be packaged with the second half of Fulhams season.

Instead of a book a dvd of the 10 years of Mad stad would be better.

Greed 100%, but how much footage the club has pre Premium TV, I suspect it's fairly little which kind of makes the DVD not all that great, it's the early MadStad footage and highlights that would interest me most.
