RoyalBlue How did the change of sponsor delay anything if the navy away shirt came out before the season started (or didn't that shirt have the sponsor's name on it?!)?

That season I think there was always a new Away Shirt in the pipeline, therefore factory space had been booked and all that needed was the new sponsers name to be printed on the shirt. As soon as the deal with Kyocera came through it was obviously decided it would financially make more sense to produce a brand new Home Shirt released slightly later rather than rebranding all of the current ones, as London Irish did with Llanera to great critiscm.

I actually really like that. As an away kit it would look good!

I agree :P

I see from the official site that they will unveil the new shirt early next month. That's two weeks time, I think.

Focher we need the 93/94 away kit back, red and yellow hoops and black shorts, as sported at Huddersfield away that season in a 0-3 victory first day of that season. I loved that kit.

'greed. Anyone got a link to an image of the above kit?

FWIW, I also liked the 2001/02 away kit - the "Spain" shirt.

New shirt was in the club shop earlier. Didn't have the sponsor on though, so it must have been a proto-type. Pretty standard in the hoop design, solid blue back again and it had v-neck collar with what looks like another top underneath.

How about a return to the record breaking Royals kit of 85/86, not a hoop in sight and sponsored by Courage?!!!!!!!!!

-------
If it was a prototype then you didn't see the new shirt...
And just because it didn;t have the sponsors name on doesn;t mean it wasn't the final version !

Although whether you were in the club shop earlier must be an open question.

There was no "proto-type" in the megastore recently, ignore that, he's fishing.

The design was finalised back in March. Should finally get to see the new home and away kits within the next 3 weeks, a date yet to be decided for the launch.

Why? It would take a very special person to fish like that. Very special.

To be honest I'm starting to worry we won't have seen the new kit by August.

I do sometimes knock fans on here for moaning about the club as if otherwise common failings somehow only happen at Reading, but in my years of following Reading and eagerly anticipating new kits, getting the new kit out by a reasonable date is something we are particularly bad at. Experience says the first real batch of kits won't be ready until the opening home game (with the away shirt not out until September) and loads of fans who buy shirts on the opening day will complain about the poor quality of that first batch.

Lets see if the logo delaminates or the shirt snaggs or tears/frays easily. Thought the neckline frayed far too easily. Would think that the logo would be in black for the home shift. Green on the away. Dependant on away colours. I'm probably wrong though

The new kit has been ready for ages. Just been waiting for a sponsor to put on the front of it and until that happened the manufacturing of it couldnt start. Now Waitrose are on board it shouldnt be long at all before we see the "final version"

Ok, it wasn't a proto-type, it is next seasons shirt.

With Waitrose on board, watch out for the lovely green away shirt.

Rumoured to be orange. Perhaps Waitrose insisted on a pre-2003 retro look.
