The exodus after the 1995 play off final was predictable, but still heart-rending. Hislop, Taylor and Osborn.

Adie Williams went the following summer after a protracted "will he, won't he" affair.

Trevor going to Watford (or was it Boro?) was gutting as well.

It was Watford. A year later, he went to Boro and helped them gain promotion to the top division before coming back to us.

Absolutely gutted when Terry Hurlock left, went on to forge a good career for himself, seem to remember he described Reading as like living in "Mogadon Town" . Also gutted when Simon Osborn left-a superb player, also today with Glen Little leaving, a sad day indeed :( :( :( :

Keith Curle. Class player and one of the very best of that RFC era.

Trevor going to Watford - I saw him play for them: just so wrong in a non RFC shirt

Keith Curle (to Wimbledon?) The classiest player I had ever seen in a Reading shirt (and was for a long time until Dariusz turned up)

Not quite a transfer, but McGhee leaving (especially after th EP headlines earlier that day)

Little's decision today is one of anger and "why?" - will probably turn into sorrow soon enough.

Neil Webb
ironically also to Pompey

Reasons (which may not be valid, I'm sure others will correct me !)

- he'd not played that much for us, was obviously going to be a top player and it was disappointing we weren;t going to see him develop first hand
- local lad, big family connection to the club
- didn't get much of a fee for him (£70k ?)
- move seemed to happen quickly so didn;t have time to get used to it - back in the good old days before the internet when these things weren't the subject of months of gossip followed by months of anguish !
