PEARCEY
Smoking Kills Dancing Doe Generally think this is for the best.

Blakey gets a final chance and big pay day and we don't go into next season with an injury prone player as a 1st choice player.

Now surely Coppell has to buy a right winger, a good one, who he has to spend money on and deal with the pressure.

Still wouldn't surprise me one bit if Kebe starts against Forest.

Agreed all round. We were light on the right wing last season but heading towards anorexic in that department now

Coppell's my 1st choice at the moment!!

Not concerned an injury prone has been has gone, just concerned he won't be replaced and we'll have to watch a full back at right wing or a left winger there.

Ups and Downs All of a sudden i regret handing in my season ticket application this morning.

Absolutely gutted and not really looking forward to next year at all at the moment. I know he didn't feature at all last year but i was looking forward to seeing a fully fit Glenn next season.

Please buy some f*cking players this year Steve!!!!

Oh, and good luck Glenn, I suppose.

fu ck me, just cos Glens gone it doesnt mean the end of Reading FC. He is old and injury prone, get rid of him now before he spends another season on the bench or in the stands. You gwarn like he was worth the season ticket alone just to watch him. He werent that special. have faith in our club scouting fresh talent, this should make way for a young pacey winger.

That scouting network had the whole of last season to find such a young pacey winger but failed (and they supposedly had money to spend then) .

Good luck to Glen, i can only repeat what has been said on here about him been one of, if not the, best players i have seen in a Reading shirt. The ability to beat players with pure skill and trickery was a delight to watch and a fresh of breath of fresh air in the modern day when pace seems to be the be all and end all of wingers.
The move i would guess is financially motivated, but who can blame him as he is now in the last few years of his career. I cant really see him getting into the Pompey midfield they play with pace and power and i am not sure they will allow him to get away with not running back at 100mph etc as it does not seem portsmouth style. Their midfield contain Kranjcar, Muntari, Diarra, Diop, Utaka, Davis and Mendes at this moment in time, and Redknapp has gone on record to say he could sign up to ten players so i cannot see where Glen fits in apart from in the carling/ fa cups (possible early rounds of uefa?)

However this now gives Coppell NO excuses for not buying a quality right midfielder, i was anticipating a right midfielder in some sort of capacity to come in and play second fiddle to Glen (possible similar to Oster) but now it has gone from our strongest position at the start of the season (Seol, Oster and Little) to been completely empty. If we are serious about going for promotion, and i have my doubts, then we cannot take a risk on either Kebe or Henry been good enough to be first choice and them then to flop so we have no option of bringing anyone in. Instead we need to be proactive and stop all the excuses we have heard over the last few windows ("no one wants to join us" "doesn really start for 4 more weeks" "looking for a specific sort of play" "I am happy with the squad" "right players aren't available" etc) make bids for players and be ambitios...why not make bids for players such as Kightly and Ledley, we will never know unless we bid and talk to them. And although it is harsh, becuase i hate it when it is done to us, but we should start to use our current status are a respected club with premiership ambitions to bully smaller clubs in to selling their star players becuase they want to move to a better club. Like Bodde and Derby, like West ham and Shorey, like Laferty and Wolves/rangers, like Ebanks Blake and wolves, like Real Madrid and Ronaldo... Bentley.... Barry...the list goes on. Start getting bullying the smaller clubs into selling us their players because the player want to play at a higher level and hand in a transfer request etc.

The obvious concerns are that with Glen now departed it will be seen within the club as another "money saving" venture, I can see us .getting rid of in total between 8 and 10 squad and first team players and bringing maybe 3 or 4 in. I have real concerns about the type and quality of player, that we are going to bring in, I have absolutely no confidence that any investment in the future is going to be made and that the present management, both team and club, are happy with the thought of being a mid table side and the only time that anything will be spent is if they are struggling in January which sadly wouldn't really surprise me.

This is our standard policy, going back year - we don't ever offer any more than a one year contract to players over a certain ago.

Remember Kevin Bremner leaving? Remember Adie Williams leaving? IIRC they were exactly the same circumstances.

We went on without them and we will without Glen Little.

As there's not a single person at the club from when Kevin Bremner was around I doubt we are just continuing a policy from back then - particularly as there was no such thing as a Bosman back then (we made Brighton fork out £35,000 for him on the basis of offering him a 50p a week pay rise).

And let's face it, it's not as if we exactly alone in the world in being a club who have lost a player on a free transfer. I know people like to beat the club with a big stick as if Reading FC is the only club in the country that doesn't fulfill its fans' every expectation, but really, we aren't.

Saying that though, this really is a big blow to our hopes of going back up. Lose Hunt for a few million and you can an least console yourself with the idea that we can use the cash to bring someone in. We might now need to sell Hunt to raise the money to sign two wingers (I'm not confident about Convey ever getting fit again).

Nevermind. It's great for Little.

At least he can say he played for a successful club. With wright philips, crouch etc all signing, we are going to challenge for the european cup in years to come.

Reading is a good club, but much like bournemouth and brighton. The club have never been or never will be anywhere near as big or popular as Pompey.

For example, whats readings fa cup history like:

Pompey:

2 FA Cup titles
2 FA Cup Finals
7 F.A Cup Semi Finals

Not forgetting league titles etc for pompey too.

You may be hearting, and without him youll do well, but hand on heart you know he deserves it. When hes got grandkids he'll be able to say he played for the famous Portsmouth F.C in europe with other big name players.

x

chandog Shit
Little was one of the players we could nt really afford to lose
We are not getting any money for him and are now left with Kebe and Henry
Another position we need invest in and with our tight budget this will be difficult
Still glad oster has gone though :)

Where is the proof that neither Kebe or Henry will not step up next year?

Give 'em a bleedin chance before you dismiss them outright.

Errr, Henry didn't cut it at loan on Norwich and got sent back.
