apportioning sole blame is always daft

in any big system such as RFC when things go wrong it is always a combination of people who are to blame
in this instance i believe its the players 1st and foremost-too many dipped in form-too many believed their own hype, too many got sucked in by the premiere league lifestyle, too many were thinking away before the season started.
then coppell-his only faukt was showing the players continued faith based on their performances for him in the previous two seasons, and not using the money he spent wisely enough
fae, cisse, kebe werent what we needed at the time-they may have bedded in eventually, but we needed people who could hit the ground running
i see little blame attached to madejski-but his constant harping on about selling up and prem wages etc did nothing to dispel out little club mentality, and must have got to the players.
the fans for hating seol ky hyun so much that he felt hed rather go and sit on th ebench at fulham than play pretty regularly at RFC-if hed stayed wed still be up there.

so as usual it everyones fault-and the sooner we realise this and stop trying to blame one person the better-its s toopid attitude to take.

Sarah Star Fair enough, but there's going to a premiership club and sitting on the bench, and there's staying at a recently relegated club and taking it back up there. There's also staying with the people you know, like and trust, and moving to a club where you neither like anyone nor trust them. And finally there's staying at a club where you're loved and respected by thousands, against moving to a club where you're just another face in the subs.

A Premiership club playing in Europe at a time in his career where he only has a few seasons left in him, where he showed he had the ability to play at a high level but only got a taste of it with us for one season. Players don't give two shits about the fans or club, why would they?

Because if the club does well it's in their interests - wages, recognition, career progress etc

Because if the fans appreciate them, then they will be rewarded with cheers and words of support that might keep them going when they feel down, rather than boos and words of derision which are going to make them feel bad. Also, they'll earn more money outside of football in appearances, advertising, and the media if they want to go down this route.

That's the purely selfish angle. I also think loyalty brings its own moral reward because if you know you're doing the right then you feel better inside.

I know that there are players who do not feel loyal to anyone or anything, but there are those who do. I would prefer to see the latter and think it should be encouraged.

Funniest thing about the post is that Little obviously expects to be in the starting line up and fears he may be toilet without Shorey's "lovely left peg" pushing up behind him

You do know they play on opposite sides of the pitch right?

Little knows Shorey wants out. He knows how good he can be, and he knows that Harry is already keen on him. He's just trying to play match maker and get things moving.

If anything he's doing us a favour as until Shorey goes and we get the money in, and his wages out, I doubt we'll go out and bring someone in

Could you give me an example of a player where this has happened?

Those I'd probably place it that list off the top of my head and with my limited knowledge would be:

Graeme Murty
Steven Gerrard
Fernando Torres
and possibly Cesc Fabregas, but I'm not sure.

Graeme Murty - When?
Steven Gerrard - True but Reading have never had a true Homegrown fan of the club playing for them
Fernando Torres - When?
and possibly Cesc Fabregas, but I'm not sure. True

Fernando Torres for Atletico Madrid, and now for Liverpool

Graeme Murty - come on, he's been with the club for years and comes across as very passionate about it. Who wouldn't cheer for him? He's got a job here for life, and a media one if he wants it.

Surely if Torres & Fabregas were as loyal as you suggest they'd still be in Spain, Murty would still in York whilst Gerrard wouldn't have publicly stated he was leaving Liverpool only to back track after being offered the Earth to stay.

Footballers play where they do due to finance, profile, lifestyle, trophies and self improvement. Loyalty rarely, if ever, enters into it and certainly not in the cases you've quoted.

You don't have to stay at the first club you're at to have loyalty.

Torres leaving Atletico was good for the club he still supports. From what he says, it sounds like he plans to go back there one day. But he chose to go to Liverpool and shows no sign of wanting to leave them in the near future. He also took a pay cut when he went to Merseyside.

When did Gerrard ever say he was leaving Liverpool?

Seriously do you honestly believe Torres left Atletico because of loyalty to them?
