Matejovsky ahead of schedule

Interesting part at the end...........

Responding to the rumours that he may be set to leave the Royals following their relegation to the Championship, Matejovsky insists that he has every intention of playing his part in a promotion bid next term.

"As far as I know I am returning to Reading and I am ready to play for them despite the fact that we were relegated."

Has Madjeski been spending all the transfer money on a secret airport runway at the stadium?

As statements of commitment go, that's about as lukewarm as you can get, surely?

I suppose I shouldnt be surprised, it took a whole 9 posts for this 'positive statement' to have a negative spin put on it.

Hey Ho. We're all doomed.

Given the language barrier, I'd say this is quite positive. Possible translation, 'Unless Reading are looking to sell me, I will still be at the club in August. I'm looking forward to helping them return to the Premier League, and despite relegation, I have no interest in leaving.'

I can't help but wonder whether it might not be until the January transfer window that other clubs become interested in Marek. They'll want to see that he's come through his injury, and if he does well in the first few months of the Championship, I reckon that will be when other managers sit up and take notice. Having said that, however, if we're in a commanding position at the top of the League, I'd hope that the board would not want to sell him and also that he would want to get us back into the PL and be happy to stay. Even the little I've seen of him has made me excited for this season, I think he'll do a fantastic job for us in the Championship, as long as the players around him are of a good enough quality to allow his genius to shine.

I think, happily for us, he didn't impress enough at the business end of last season to really prick the ears of any Premiership managers. They'll look at that with a greater weighting than whatever he does in the Championship.

You gotta remember he joined us from an average team in the Czech that had a capacity of 5,000 - so playing infront of 15,000+ in the Championship wont bother him unlike others who believe they are Premiership footballers!
